  • My dad is called Jack Frost and was once asked to appear on Chris Evans Channel 4 show! He refused

Keep up the chatter folks, this is the friendliest thread I have ever read, the way you offer support to others is heartwarming.

HC says "who on earth glosses skirting boards (and doors) these days?" He hates it and says it's so eighties.

HC is asking if anyone has a recipe for sausage casserole, if it can be done in a slow cooker then even better.:D

Fry sausages and onions, bung in slow cooker with stock cube, water, a good glug of red wine, a bayleaf or some thyme, a good squeeze of garlic puree and tomato puree, and a little flour and water to thicken. (take your pick from these ingredients according to what you've got handy). Give it several hours in the slow cooker.

Edit you could add some quartered mushrooms as well
Hope you enjoy it Happy! :smileyhea

Had a co-op leaflet through my door yesterday morning, interesting deals for people with the Comfort/Persil coupons:
    • Persil Small & Mighty non bio 28 wash @ half price £3.19, £2.19 with coupon (7.8p per wash)
    • Comfort Pure 42 wash @ half price £1.76, £1.01 with coupon (2.4p per wash)
Am I right in thinking the £1 (therefore 25p :D) Comforts were 21 wash? Can't be bothered going to check lol! If so this deal isn't anywhere near as good but still it's ok.

The recent T's Persil deal was £4 (after coupon) for 56 washes so this one's only 38p more.

    ^Yes the £1 comforts were 21 wash

Got some of the above from Co-op yesterday, the sa said I could only use 1 voucher per transaction so had to buy in seperate transactions. Probably just the staff in my local but I got told that the day before by another sa.

thanks for this Kadison..will try it later...although I tried using the comfort ones when they were on offer ages ago in Co-op...they accepted them one day, then refused them the next day saying they only accepted internet coupons now! :)

Nice to read everyone's methods for sc.

I also snip my grilled sausages.
I caramelise my onions in a pan with oil and a bit of brown sugar.
Put em in a pot together with stock, passatta (tomato ketchup will suffice HC) and a dollop of mustard. Throw in some value mixed herbs and whatever veggies need using up (ie, leeks, 'shrooms, etc, optional).

    Couldn't be easier.

There's no right or wrong way HC.
Whatever you have at hand can be adapted.

    What's everyone up to today?

We are off to a museum later. Should be going to a friends bash but I'm stopping in now with the young uns. OH is going though. Will get a ken Hom in on way home ;)

    Can you freeze hobnobs?

There's no way we can eat em all and there are no more guests expected this weekend!

I agree casseroles/stews/soups are all trial and error if you like it bung it in if you dont leave it out, I don't like sausages (dont like most meat tbh) so don't eat it but thats what I used to make for my son

Hobnobs?? Not sure on freezing tbh I'd give it a go if when defrosted they are "soggy" trying a quick blast in the oven, if that doesn't work crumble them over fruit for a tasty crumble topping (Can you tell I waste NOTHING:D)
