I've missed all the fun and games today, but thought i'd offer a different point of view.
I'm a moderator on a very large fantasy sports forum. We have to deal with the same issues of people posting innapropriate things and circumventing swear filters and rules. We spend a lot of time behind the scenes working with these people, exchanging messages and discussing actions taken. Banning is always a last resort and happens rarely.
All the normal members see is someone being banned. They have generally missed most of what was posted openly and have no knowledge of any private discussions. We tend to be lambasted for our "knee jerk" reaction.
Basically, it's not easy being a forum mod, and the general members aren't privy to a lot of what goes on

Anyone can cuddle but only the Welsh can cwtch :)
  • Thanks, I really wasn't expecting a reply to this and am pleasantly surprised!

I guess its easy for us tucked away on this board to forget we can also be viewed by anyone else who decides to look in. Also over the festive period with alcohol flowing freely, it's easy to allow standards to drop. I know I was guilty too of more than the odd inuendo or play on words after too much festive spirit (speckled hens springs to mind here!).

I do think on the whole though our little group and thread has lasted longer than many thought and has been pretty well behaved as we are to all intents and purposes self policing.

I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one who would be very grateful if you'd look at HC's case again, even if he did have to serve a short suspension. I'd also be more than happy if the guides gave us a little prod now and again if we do tend to push the boundaries a bit...it is a human nature thing! I've no direct contact with HC so I'll leave his close family member to contact you directly to discuss things further should you decide to do so.

    Thanks again for replying. :)
Well worded FK as you have read i have been guilty as well when a little merry and the reminder now and again would make us all think twice ;)

echoing French Knickers sentiments above , we must all work together to stop incidents like this happening again .
I'll volunteer to slap peoples wrists .....and may I say after my outbursts that I'd like to apologise to the Forum Manager as he was and is only doing his job .

    FourP .

    Thanks Folks,

I appreciate that we don't all operate perfectly in a perfect world, especially over holiday times, so let's move on from here and get back to the business of saving money. I actually use the Tesco threads personally so I know how useful they are.

Regarding HC, the simplest route really is for them to contact us and explain. These things will normally get flagged for the attention of myself or Andrea, and we can review accordingly.

Thanks all, have a good night.

The MSE Towers team is off to get comprehensively hammered at 5-a-side....:footie:

    Our Saturdays revolved around
-meeting Dad in town after he finished work
-getting lunch in the place that used to be where Past Times is now at the back of Boots, had tables with big fish tanks along them
-then came Leisure World! the most amazing toy shop in Belfast, always packed and we got to pick out a toy eventhough it wasn't our birthday or nothing :D
Woolies pick 'n' mix, then the other shops came after these, the most important parts done, kids and Dad happy, Mum could go where ever she wanted and no one minded.
    We so loved those days
That restaurant was the Chalet Dor,used to visit it myself over the years :D:D

  • Hi sorry to hear that. When you get yourself sorted you shold change your name to spiraling UP
Just gonna y to catch up from last night.
I've had a bad lot of hrs.
Ended up in A&E by ambulance last night, couldn't breathe and had chest pains then fainted. Have spent most of today sleeping as I got home in time to take DS to school so done that before resting and sleeping.
Aparently my heart's ok, but they couldn't find anything serious wrong. Just have severe reflux thank goodness but felt a bit guilty for wasting their time.
Being lifted and laid is doing my head in, I just want to get on with things but know it's best just to watch what I'm doing.
I say "THANKS" to posts that make me smile - Oh and really good glitches.:j
Good things come to those who wait:A Bad things come on express delivery:(

So very true I too am a Chat Mod for a living, we have rules to follow and often have people using spaces or numbers (like we do when we say 1iv£ep00l str££t store) to get round the censor, its a hard line as on one hand people say vile language etc, on the other hand people will miss a lot of what happened and think its one tiny mistake and they are banned not seeing the whole thing
