Tell him that he is welcome to check with head office (as you will) to confirm its a discontinued and hence heavily discounted item and if confirmed expect it sold to you at the price ont he screen. Ask for him to deal with it personally as you don't want the item getting 'lost'.
It may not work but is your only hope really of getting the item at that price. Depends on the manager but chances are it'll be ok'd if its the only one and obviously old stock.
Wish I had of done that now. Instead I left and phoned customer service who told me that the store did right not selling a dvd player for 50p. I've emailed Phil Clarke but don't hold out much hope. There were a few of them on the shelf...at least 3. I only picked it up quickly as I thought it was another £22 pound one, not the 50p ones. Plus at the till I heard the sales assistant say she was going to buy one at that price so I put that in my email. Worth a try!!!0 -

I think this is one of the major issues Tesco need to address. Fair enough if a 50p item shouldnt be sold, but there should be clear info as to where it should go once its taken from you!
By the way staff are not allowed to buy the bargains ahead of customers. Its up to you how much you want to put your head above the radar, but if it were me, I think I'd be requesting tea, biscuits and a nice chat with the store manager once I'd got the names of those you overheard talking about buying them once yours had been confiscated.
I know its going to sound very harsh but taking your bargain from you so they can have it themselves is pretty darn close to theft in my book and even closer to obtaining goods by deception!!!

Just to clarify for all concerned, the user you all know about had multiple warnings about tone, language and, numerous times, using spacing in words to avoid our swear filter. This included examples of the C and F word, amongst others. We had a lot of complaints and despite (we believe) giving the user a multiple of opportunities to amend posting style, they were seemingly ignored.
Ultimately this is a private, family forum and we have to apply our Rules fairly to all users. We cannot accept disregard for our policies which are in place to ensure this remains a polite and courteous place for all to visit, no matter what contributions users have made.
Obviously you may choose to disagree with this if you wish, as is your right, but disrupting this thread, and specifically starting "bring back" or poll threads isn't constructive. I'm sorry it's come to this, but I felt we needed to explain that this isn't a random account block for no reason. Please treat this as a single statement and don't discuss further on here.
