Well that, and being incredibaly biased against Israel and America and having the gual to call themselves independent.

Isn't it the BBC that has shares in Algezeera?
I really find that statement takes the biscuit.

To quote https://www.honestreporting.com as an authoritative source is a disgrace: it is simply propaganda.

The truth is exactly the opposite; in that much of the world’s media is controlled by Friends of Israel. It is the fear of this media turning against them that emasculates American politicians.

To campaign against the BBC for reporting facts is reprehensible and has no part in this forum.
  • We are all being controlled in most areas of our daily lives.

Maybe a higher secret society in Britain and other Countries, cough cough (e.g America) has something to do with it? :D

  • We got rid of Sky 6 months ago and haven't missed it one little bit. I'm a massive football and rugby union fan. So I pick and choose the matches I want to watch and go to the pub. Couple of matches a month, couple of pints per game = £10. Sky with sports package £30.

Main thing is I don't have to put up with the disappointment of flicking through the sky channels in the vain hope that my £30 will be justified this month - man that used to pee me off

Adamski : CSI and desperate housewives are both on terrestrial TV so grow a pair of !!!!!! and tell the girlfriend she'll have to wait a couple of weeks to see it on normal tv!! :rotfl:

As someone said - you have a choice!! Don't be tricked into thinking you HAVE to have Sky - you don't.
  • IMHO sky have improved some areas of sport, for example the money they pumped into football has lead to premier and championship clubs having all seater stadium, many of them shiny newer (soulless) grounds which are safe. On the other hand who in their right mind wants to watch football 7 days a week, id be out of my head, i mean some edited matches on match of the day are like watching point dry, let alone the live matches.

Sky wants everything of every sport. Football in particular is now so over analyzed, even BBC and itv feel the need (unnecessarily) to copy sky and show 1 million replays of each incident. This is killing the game. Only today sky sports news' headline was murinho and his alleged rijkard incident, o.k. Im not a Chelsea fan who gives a flying f**k. its boring me stupid.

Also they have interviews with every player after every match, now if i wanted to watch someone talking without a brain id watch a kiddies programmes, not a footballer analysis of a game, when they cant speak English, let alone write it! I am now so bored of this game, I am watching other sports which offer me value for money and enjoyment of my leisure time.

Personally i think the FA's suit men should give the rights to terrestrial who will only show one match a week max, and ensure the simple game is not killed off. pigs might also fly!

I personally have never subscribed to sky as they are stupendously expensive, telewest basic pakage does me fine. I suggest if everyone is so unhappy with sky they stop purchasing their product, if this were to happen then sky would have to change.
  • well said.......stand up and make your choice.....
sky are how they are because every man and his wife (it would appear) pays them for their service.
If every football fan stopped subscribing to football, and never bought the PPV matches.....and as above, there REALLY is no need now that the BBC have match of the day back. If you love you football then you go to watch your team live anyway. If you can't, or choose not to, then believe me, MOTD is better than sky's coverage by any stretch of the imagination!

  • I've been looking into getting sky but I have always been put off by their prices. It's SKY+ that I'm after.

Does anyone know of a way of getting a similar recordablitity as skyplus but with normal/digital tele. There are loads of decent DVD and Hard drive recorders about but I can't seem to find one that has a decent tv guide like sky and can pause live TV...

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Sounds as though you've been watching a little too much BBC ;)

I check pmwatch and between this and honestrepoting there's little doubt which is the more precise of the two. I'd certainly rather read those two sites than rely on the integrity of a couple of news organisations, foxnews, BBC, CNN etc.

Honest reporting doesn't in anyway hide the fact it's pro-Israeli, you should ask yourself why you sound histerical as it's naive to think that honestreporting are an authorative source, or indeed that an average user who's interested in media critiques (ie the sort who reads sites like honest reporting) will place their utmost trust in the reports. It's very naive to think that considering they find it hard to trust any organisation that they'd use honest reporting as an authorative source. They use honestreporting as a tool to make up their mind for themselves.

I think you're exagerating a little here. "campaigning against the BBC" I try to take everything I read with a pinch of salt and it's not just the BBCs stories that I draw issue to, neither just accounts opposed to an Israeli cause.

You seem to have assumed that I have an Israeli bias, you're quite far off the mark there. Keep in mind that I was not the one who took this thread off topic. ;)

That statement is abit oxymoronic, considering the site is one of many that tries to deal with propoganda. I'm not disputing that they don't spread their own but to say it's simply propoganda is completely missing the point as to why these sites exist.

No point in getting into a discussion on the merits of media bias.
