Nectar card problems

I guess Nectar are like a cashback site, if they don't get paid the money from the shop you purchased for whatever reason then they can't pass on the reward to you.

As with cashback sites, treat Nectar points as a nice added bonus, don't rely on them as some retailers are slow at paying out or come up saying that your account was linked to another cashback site (even if it is the first time in visiting that website via the link provided by the cashback/nectar website)

Well I have no links to any other cashback sites so they can't use that excuse with me.

If Nectar can't fulfill points then it reflect on them badly.

I'm going to reactivate this thread because last week, when I tried to log into my Nectar account, I was told that the "card number and/or password is incorrect". Since both are auto-completed by my security software, this is incorrect. Like another user earlier in this thread, I clicked on "forgot password" to get it reset, then clicked on the link in the email that they sent, only to find myself looking at the login that had failed because the "card number and/or password is incorrect". I then tried the online chat. I was sent a different link which worked. I re-entered the password that the system had lost, and at last managed to log in. Unfortunately not the end of the story.

Yesterday I couldn't log in again as it had again decided that the details I had entered were "incorrect". However they were offering to link to my Facebook account "so that you will never have to enter your card number again". I did this, and found that I could now log in by simply clicking on this link. Except that when I asked to see my personal details or points balance, I was dumped back at the login page that didn't work. There is no online chat at weekends.

To summarise. First, there is clearly an issue where the system loses login details on a regular basis, compounded by a further issue that the link in the email they send to "reset the password" simply asks you to log in again with the same details that didn't work. Second, it isn't sufficient to allow a user to log in using Facebook credentials. This has also to provide full access to the account, otherwise it's pretty useless. At present it clearly doesn't.
  • I hate Nectar to start with, the rewards are so small it's ridiculous. However last year I actually tried to redeem some points and ended up getting two vouchers for the Sainsburys's entertainment site. At that time they were promoting these vouchers as working just like cash on the site - until you get to the checkout where you could only use a single voucher for the purchase - how is that "just like cash"?

So I ended up with a voucher code sat in a file on my computer untill now. Just decided to use it such that it acts as a discount, just to get rid of it. But.... The Sainsbury's entertainment site no longer ships physical goods, just downloads. So the voucher is more than useless!

I've also had two of the issues raised here. First, I received no points for my easyJet booking, even though I had gone via the correct route. When I gave them details of the transaction they credited the points "as a goodwill gesture" - not because there had been a problem at their end.

I also have regular problems with the site forgetting my password. Usually when I click on "forgotten password" then the link in the email I just get the login page, where of course I can't log in as it has forgotten my password. Sometimes it does work - until a month later I find that it has lost my password again. I have had similar problems with my Shell Select account. I suspect that they are using the same software, and there is a default that times out the password after a certain time.

Just don't get me going about the new version of the Nectar toolbar. I reverted to the original one which works fine.
