i am on 40mg a day of anti depressants, seeing a dr and mental health team often. i am on income support, but friend told me i should be on sick? not income support, as they want me on jsa soon, but the way i am, its hard to get out of bed some days, let alone get to work or hold down a job, tho i would want this more than anything, to feel and live how i once did, i know i will one day, but until then i cant.
any ideas??

It dosnt matter which benefit, you will still lose it when you move your Mr johnson in in 6 months as he works so a benefit shuffle isnt going to get you a seperate benefit of your own as you fail the NIC's for both and you will be assessed on his low wage you told us about on the benefits board.0 -
You could apply for DLA if your depression causes you to have any care needs. No-one here can say whether or not you will actually get it, because that would be up to the DWP decision maker who looks at the form.
It's not based on diagnosis, just care or mobility needs so have a read up on DLA and think about if it would be worth filling in a form.Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -
Do you get Carers Allowance for your son?Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0

Oh yes, go claim DLA, it's not come up yet, but you could also apply for a blue badge too, I mean, 40mg of anti depressants would make anyone want all three of those babies!
Sorry for sarcasm but those drugs are handed out as sweeties. I sat in my GP's, was asked a series of questions and pronounced as "depressed"! It was folly, I am not depressed. I am on one of the strongest anti depressants Consultants give, you see many people are on them as they act as neuro-blockers, thus easing the pain.
Are you depressed? You never said, you appeared to focus more on what benefits you could get that would keep you away from work, now your off spring is over the age a parent no longer qualifies for IS.0 -
Brassed off, I love your logo thingy, I'm in it for the Parking! Really made me laugh! With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0

i have depression /anxiety plus others stuff and it really gets on my nerves when people say that to get off working they are depressed etc..
lets hope they never really get it because when they do they won,t know what hit them.0 -
We do not know this persons life or what they are capable of . I think its mean to be sarcastic , we haven't walked in their shoes so who are we to judge . Drugs being handed out like sweets has nothing to do with if this person is actually ill or not so its missing the point . They feel unwell and asked a question . Being ill isn't a crime .0

Oh, the walk in their shoes speach. Sorry the OP majored on benefits and minored on their illness. It's called Disability Living Allowance, not Illness Living Allowance! Did you know that "depression" and "glass backs" are the highest cause for claiming benefits? I gave an example of my doc sitting there with the depression version of Lima, asked some questions, said I was depressed went to dish out some anti depressants and realised I was already on 4x the amount of that drug she was going to perscribe. Sorry, there are many people out there with this illness that is serious, but it's not as if they are in a wheelchair, lost limbs, have something missing elsewhere.
There are many of us who have been on here for a long time and you see the same questions and scenarios. Someone with depression and a child just about to breech the age limit for parents looking for jobs has come up before. I Hope it is not the case for the OP. I hope the OP feels better soon.0
