Try a very damp (not dripping) towel - hold it by a corner and dangle it behind the radiator and flap it around. The dust sticks to the cloth, doesn't fly around and you can just wash it afterwards - and it's free. You could also drape the towel over a stick if it's easier.0

a damp old (but clean!!) sock on a wire coat hanger is what i use. just pull it over one end and you can reach right down.0

Rather than sucking the dust up with a vacuum, try blowing it out (top to bottom) with a hairdryer, then you can sweep or vacuum it up underneath.
I don't know if this actually works as I never dust behind my radiators!!
My other suggestion was going to be a sock on a long ruler.0 -
I'm not sure whether this has been discussed before, as I did a search but couldn't find anything. Sorry if it has.
I decided to go around sprinkling some room perfume stuff down inside the top grills of my radiators, as I do every so often to give the rooms a nice fragrance. However, today I was shocked by the grime - don't know why I was shocked 'cos who else would go round cleaning down there!. Any suggestions on how to go about cleaning them? I thought about cotton buds soaked in stardrops but that's going to take ages and not reach every bit. Think it's about time I joined the Flylady:o0 -
I open up a wire coat hanger and wrap some cotton wool or sometimes tape a baby wet wipe to one end and prod down the fiddly bits of the rads with that. If you have a thin enough attachment on your hoover and it's got enough suction power that sometimes sucks up the dust. Or one of those long gadgets that cleans ventian blinds with that you can buy from bettaware0

I think OH's Mum uses a cain and cloth, those sorts which plants grow up and uses that to push a cloth through the radiator.
Thinking about it, I guess a thin towel would do as you'ed have to keep hold of it.
Sothing along those lines,anyway.0 -
I use a dry paint brush and just sort of dust them.0

Lakeland sell a thing called a flatmate. It's expensive but I've found mine to be brilliant for loads of hard to reach places, like under the fridge and WM, it cleans the PC keyboard, and it's good for the radiator - gets in most of the bits though it's a bit fiddly ( though probably a lot less fiddly than anything else! ) You can wash it as well. I've had mine for ages and it's still going strong.

Hi there everyone. I'm sure someone out there will have a technique for getting rid of the dust/gunge etc that I can see under the grill on top of my radiators. Every time I clean them I look down and can see loads of muck but it's too far (approx 2 inches) below the grill for the vacuum to collect it. I've tried using a paintbrush to try and dust it off (with the vaccuum nozzle at the base of the radiator to try and collect what falls) but the bristles are just not long enough to reach or have much effect.
What would you OS Flyladies do?I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0
