You'll save money in so many ways you didn't realise and think of the time saving - you won't have to update white gloss, or repaint the white celling, or repaint the walls (unless they were magnolia) so often.

My MIL's kitchen is white gloss and we have to paint it every 6 months otherwise it goes yellow (she smokes about 60 a day - most of them in the kitchen :-/)

Wish she could have the will power to give up :-/

Tried reading the Allen Carr book that everyone is raving about but it was so boreing I decided to have another go at will-power. Smoked 20-30 day for 20yrs. Had last one at 7:30pm last night and so far so good, bit tetchy though think the kidz were glad to go to school and Mr's Man seemed to leave earlier than usual ;D Having trouble going into my kitchen cos there where I smoked all mine, might be Cadbury's Roses for tea at this rate ;D

Good luck dropping the last 6 ciggies 160 abd thanks for your support Galtizz

Cleaning radiators, yes, toothbrush is VERY handy

Re giving up smoking, once you have acheived it, you'll find it the best thing you ever did. In my own case, I gave up for two years, then started again, but a pregnancy scare made me give up for good. It's really hard, but use whatever tools you need; it's REALLY worth it.

Thanks Jeryth, Fell off the wagon after 30hrs but giving it another go. We've got a stop smoking support group on MSE so maybe we can all help each other. :D

where is the stop smoking bit math?
  • Does anyone have a good MoneySaving tip on how to dust down the backs of radiators? The crevice tool on the hoover only goes so far. I know you can buy expensive purpose-made things to do this from those homewares catalogues but I won't spend the money!

Don't want to sound like an obsessive cleaner but there are dust-farms thriving in the house we've moved into - great clumps of the stuff regularly drop down on to the floor from behind the rads and are presented to me by my toddlers!

You can sometimes pick up those long handled micro-fibre type fluffy dusters from pound shops. I've had some ages, when I got 3 different sizes in a pack and the large one is the best for behind the rads (not that I bother that often - I wait until I decorate then remove the rad and wash it down :D)

Just get a cheap feather duster from the pound shop!
