He's lovely bless him. My dog is on wainwrights salmon and potato, he has a very sensitive stomach but it ok on this. Definitely slowly change him to a different food though, you don't want to upset his stomach.Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0

Sorry Caroline but in stitches at this ..... you'll not ever have had a Lab then!:rotfl:
Anyway, sorry soccermom huge congratulations - he's adorable!
Loads of great advice already given .... especially about keeping him on the same food for a while & then introducing any changes very gradually by mixing with his current food.
If you do get him switched over to the Wainwrights, I'd be tempted to get a couple of small bags and then see which he prefers and then buy the big one (they work out a lot cheaper). My old lad had a very sensitive tummy (wheat intolerant) and he was on Wainwrights for quite a long time & did very well on it. I was able to chop/change the flavours without any problem but this may not be as easy for a pup to cope with.....

This is what I was thinking getting a couple of smaller bags and see how he goes.
I have been waiting so long for this moment and I feel like I did when I was expecting my first child  There seems to be so much conflicting advice when I try and do some research.
I feel its always best to ask on places like this and get personal experiences.
So thank you everyone. I'm sure this will not be my last question
Will definitely post more pictures when he arrives.0 -
Our pup's now on Wainwrights - ask for feeding advice in PAH and they give you a free bag (we managed to get 4 by being naughty and asking the same question in different branches) but we introduced it gradually as the breeder didn't use proprietary dog foods so she was on mince/chicken/fish to start with - she loved her scrambled egg for breakfast and we still give her lamb mince or tinned fish in oil at least once a week.0

Good idea
was thinking about scrambled egg did you just give them 1 egg scrambled with a little milk or just the egg.
How long was it until you had a complete change from breeders food to your choice, was it achieved within a week, just curious. It doesn't really matter how long, I have the patience to wait.
Thanks0 -
Personally, I'd take a lot longer than a week to change any food (for any age of dog).
You want to replace a tiny bit of their current food with the new one, stay at that amount for a few days until you know everything's "OK", then a slightly bigger bit & again wait a few days etc etc until it's totally changed over.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thanks, just been reading up on this, suggestions are between 10 and 14 days.
So will work on this and see how he finds it
I will of course adapt as is needed 0 -
Bless him. Make sure you get him insured.
Wainwrights is quite a decent food and reasonably priced. Petsupermarket were selling two for one recently and I got a couple then. I feed that mixed with my Royal Canin skin support food which is MUCH more expensive but which suits mine. I also add a bit of wet food or some of our dinner to it for them.
First thing you should do, is get a copy of The Perfect Puppy by Gwen Bailey = you can get it on amazon - its the puppy care bible.0 -

Already done
Have been checking the insurances, blimey there aren't many that get good reviews are there. Even ones on here that get discussed get bad reviews lol
Only one I can find which has a few decent reviews is vetsmedicover.
Going to ask the family and see who they use.0
