I find the best thing to use is a simple flea comb, cost around £4 - £5 (and no, my cats don't have fleas!). I don't use any other form of brush or furminator or whatever, even on the two show cats. To me, the comb is effective at getting rid of excess hair, it is easy to use and it is good value for money as it will last for years. Don't really need anything else in my book.

    I agree :) (I've got three adult cats - two short-haired tabbies and a semi-longhaired plus a semi-long-haired kitten)

ok i have one of those already so i'll start with that! thanks :)
  • Again, I'm kind of wondering how different these long hair and short hair furminator 'grooming tools' are. It's like selling human hairbrushes, only different types; one for long hair and another for short hair.

We've been recommended the furminators by a friend who has cats. I've found a good website price wise I thought I'd share.

I can't post links but you can find it by googling hollywood shop furminator.

I can't work out which to buy though. We have both long and short haired cats.

I have two cats and both have very different coats ... I use the same Furminator on both of them and it works with no problem.

I use a normal hair brush for my MC kitten, surely a brush is a brush is a brush? Only difference (in my opinion, unless others can say otherwise?) is that mine only cost a pound.
  • The furminator is good for when the coat is moulting. but not for everyday use to comb out knots

My two dogs hated the furminator. Total waste of money that was! It wasnt cheap either.
