    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm the same right now - I am struggling to get a decent quote for my Escort 1.8tdi

I keep getting hit with over £400 which is bleeding ridiculous for a 35 year old, with loads of no claims discount, and the Car is a W reg 2000 model.

I keep hearing fo folk saying " I got my car insurance for £150 etc" but I never seem to be able to get these kinds of deals. Have tried moneysupermarket, confused etc all the screenscrapers and can't get it below £400??

    help anyone?

Not sure if you're a lady or a gentlemen, but if a gent, try gender reassignment: women usually get cheaper insurance! :D

Or try a less powerful car?

Remember its also down to your postcode.. Somebody in a town with lots of crime pays more than somebody in a town with less crime.

My BIL compared his address in Luton with mine in Swindon, Swindon was by far cheaper than Luton - same car and driver details.

well, not sure about the lady bit, but I'm definitely female :-)

I've tried Sheila's wheels and diamond but they're not much better!

As for the less powerful car, thats defo been a consideration - but then I need to balance it up with the following:
    • I can't afford a newer car.
    • I wouldn't get very much for the current one if I were to sell it
    • If I did sell it and get a smaller one, I'd be taking a a chance on getting a good one, which this current car seems to be. I very rarely have any bother with it (famous last words!!)

Its annoying innit? Looks like I might need to bite the bullet and pay more for it!! Grrrrr
I have no more money to give - all you companies out there - do your worst - I give in!! :(
  • Try Adrian Flux they were reasonable when I first started out, they also deal with 'hot hatches too'.

Also, do you really need the car to be covered fully comp? Reducing the cover would bring down the cost of insuring it.
Its nice to be important but more important to be nice!

Sometimes, but not always. With TPFT cover you will be liable for any repairs needed for your car in the event of an accident, and often the transport costs of clearing your vehicle away. It should not be recommended unless the car is not much more than worthless.
