Who will deliver an American Fridge Freezer to 1st floor!?

Hi all, in my excitement of exchanging contracts on a new flat I have been looking at an American Style Fridge Freezer to go in the kitchen....BUT...we have bought on flat on the first floor of a building and everyone I have spoken to only delivers up a maximum of 6 steps, which would mean the delivery company depositing the fridge/freezer half way up our communal staircase, not a good way to say hello to our new neighbours.
Does anyone know any appliance companies that will deliver to first floor flats, or a way round this? I had thought about a removal company but cant think they will want to hang around for 4 hours waiting for the fridge to turn up, and I wouldnt have thought this would be cheap either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You could get the F/F delivered to a Removal company and they can then deliver it to you at an arranged trime.
Alternatively get all of your male friends and family to turn up and get it up the stairs. They are bulky rather than heavy (the F/F, Not your family and friends!). And the doors come off to get it through doorways.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I'd agree with the previous poster - after all you'll be lugging your furniture in too, so doing the fridge should be no more trouble. You'll probably find the washing machine and sofa are more difficult.0

The challenge with the American fridge freezer is the bulk and weight. I think they are about 120kg.We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Thanks for the responses.
Im going to check on some furniture movers tomorrow, see what they would charge, though I suspect they will be pretty expensive.
The American style fridge freezer weighs roughly 135kg so was hoping to get away with not having to try and move it up the stairs with friends and family!0 -
you might have to get a structural engineer round to check your floor can handle it, or you might end up living on the ground floor 0-)0

We have first floor flat (with a lift but the Samsung was too large to fit in) and I sorted out the delivery when I purchased - I went to all the 'normals' - Comet, Curry's etc and established the best price. I then went to an independant and told him the best price but added the likely delivery problem - he even (slightly) bettered the price and sent three guys in the truck when it was delivered > all worked well.0

Why? Isn't that what friends and familes are for.
I'm sure if Gramnd pianos can be moved upstairs, I'm sure and overpriced completely pointless american fridge freezer that takes up half the kitchen as is only realy a status symbol can.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Argos delivered our fridge freezer and washing machine up 2 flights of stairs (we're also 1st floor) with nothing said about it? Not sure if Argos is any good to you though. x'They only had one cow!'0

John Lewis delivered ours to first floor (up external stairs, round path at back of house, into sun lounge, through two other rooms into kitchen)0
