after reading all this about tucan claims being a scam company on here and other sites..
my father who is 69 was duped by this company last january, saying they could get money back from his credit card limit being changed to a higher amount without his approval... anyway he paid the £249.99 refundable deposit to them.. after they had cold called him... ( if i had known about this call i would have advised him against this.. but unfortunately he told me about it thereafter, when the money had been taken GRRR!) Anyway over the past year he has phoned them several times for updates on his claim and i have lost count of the times i have emailed them...(emails all kept) ... approx 2 weeks before christmas (december 2011) he had lady from tucan claims call him to say theres nout more her company can do to help him.. so they will refund his deposit by cheque in next few days ... this is now the 5 th january 2012 and no cheque has been forward.... REALISTICALLY can someone advise me.. what to do next? i emailed them yesterday threatening action against them,, as of yet no reply... im always warning my parents of the scams that are out there.
He did pay through his credit card.. so would we be able to approach credit card company to try and regain his money back?
all replies or thoughts or advice would be welcomed .. thanks

Today i checked dads email and have a reply from tucan claims appologising for delay in responding (there usual reply may i add)... this email states that they have instructed administration to get the refundable deposit of £249.99 put back onto dads card where money was originally taken from..
( guess this is because the MOJ said that these companys are breaking the rules by not returning money the same way they took it)
...within next 7/10 working day (will believe that wen i see it ) and also if its not or he has any problems hes to contact card provider.... ahhhh so i guess its a waiting game now...0 -
wee update on my recent posts..... dad checked his bank account on monday 16 january and no refund from tucan claims... nor any amounts pending ,,, so next he phones tucan to get told there has been a problem processing his refund and a manager will call back within 24hrs.... surprise surprise no callback yesterday... so iv wrote them a email again threatening action against them and iv wrote to ministry of justice also....next steps il be contacting the financial ombusman and consumer direct,,, i will do my utmost to prevent this company doing my dad out of his money
any other help or suggestions would be much appreciated,,, as dont want anyone else to be conned by this tucan claims :-(0 -
I suggest you go to the credit card provider and ask for your money back plus interest under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
However, also make a complaint to info@claimsregulation.gov.uk that they have taken an up front fee without first giving you the opportunity to see their terms and then done nothing.0 -
The financial ombudsman service have no remit over Tucan.
Write to John Mann MP. He was declared Tucan a scam company publicly. The more that write to him, the more he will realise they are ripping people off and he can can pass numbers on.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. RE TUCAN
after doing some digging i have found out that tucan claims uses a merchant payment service provider called CYBERBIT who are based in demark ... iv reported all i no to MOJ ... does anyone know more about this company ?0 -
another wee update on my dads case... after emailling john mann MP ... my dad got a phone this afternoon from our local MP here in scotland saying she had heard about his plea from a colleague and gave my dad lots of advice as what to do next.... so today a letter went off to his credit card company with attachment emails from tucan scam claims, to reimburse the money this cruel company stole from him.
A BIG THANK YOU TO JOHN MANN MP.. dad is currently sending all his emails and communications to the ministry of justice and will pursue this , as he like others wants tucan claims put out of business.
thank you to all who have given advice through money saving expert and legal beagles
i will post bk here with any updates that follow .0 -
