Wait, even the fill-in feature of browsers is a no-go? How do they know if you used that?
  • even the fill-in feature of browsers is a no-go?

Roboform & your browser autofills are fine.

I see in T&C's of some comps that using a 'macro' can disqualify you...I 'googled ' Is Roboform a macro?.... and came up with this...
    • Entries Must be Manually Keystroked or Entered by Hand. This rule means that you must type the entry forms by hand, without the use of any aids including Roboform, the fill-in feature of Internet Explorer, etc. This rule definitely excludes Roboform users.

Dont understand this roboform doesnt give you any edge and some are very thankful to have it due to arthritis in their hands, i dont see how something what just enters your private details is wrong?????????
Its the 'auto' entry sites that should be banned.
If your want to sit entering the same comp yourself 50 times then if the rules allow it i suppose its ok but the few hours may have been wiser spent entering 50 different comps..
Wow been some major discussion on cheating today..
I think you can enter for your household only so if you win and youve entered in 'janes' name, then the company should need to see proof, then its fair.

  • Good to see that the 'Win a Sky F1 Sports package' every hour in today's Sunday Times now has the rule banning third party entries.
    3. Only one entry per person and per household is allowed per hour. Entries must not be sent through agents or third parties.

I reckon their previous 'Win a Prize an Hour' competitions were wide open to the automated entry agencies.

Lets not forget the cheaters also..
On 'treacles blog' she noted somebody was 'outed' on twitter who had 37 (or more accounts)
And if you go through just a select few of bigger winners friedns on fb you will suddenly see that these 'honest' winners are also cheats as they have more than a few fb sites - but considering what they are doing they are thick as a plank as they dont really know how to hide stuff..
I.e theres a new member around who has only been comping for less than 3 weeks and yet she or he has won 20 comps?????????
I know for a fact its impossible as some of the comps they won werent in their name???????

Anyway thats my bit for the weekend, back to comping
good luck to all the honest people (dont read below if your honest)

Thanks to above - you learnt me something there.

A note to forum mods, i see alot of the comps targetted are on here, (which im gutted about as it seems we're wasting our time on them)
so why not EXCLUDE ALL the comps from the listed blog..

Because whats the point of entering if the cheat companies are entering thousands of times..

And why dont we all make an effort to SPAM the auto entry companies - if we can make their servers crash - woohoo!!!
(and it can be done with enough of us sending spam to them)

And what a great advert for the real compers..

Also heres an idea, if we all go to the 'winners circle' on fb you will see the same names winning everyday..

Everybody on here should go to their Fb accs and do all the comps that they are doing, that way we might get a fair spread of winners and not just the same names week in week out..

Im happy enough myself with my start to comping, but surely if a few hundred people from here do that it will cut all their wins down :rotfl:

Im defo not gonna mention names, (because some of them are on here - although they hardly comment or thank or post) but you will see the same names on the first say 30-40 posts, just copy everything they do and get winning...

Its not against the rules and theres nothing they can do about it as you have to have your profile public for comps....

    Good luck folks

I understand your point to an extent Vanpopple, and I always enjoy reading what you've got to say but there are a few companies which are hit with multiple entry which (amazingly it seems) I've won goodies with, and I'm sure many, many others on MSE have too. Therefore it wouldn't be fair to entirely exclude such companies, though I do see your viewpoint.

I think the most important thing about Jason's excellent blog is getting the word out there about Multiple Entry, giving companies warning they will be spammed and abused by system software giving 1 person 1000's of entries for each competition they run. Jason's stance on this has made a difference with a number of companies already stating in their T&C's ME will not be condoned and all entries DQ'ed, impressive as it's not been long since he began raising awareness. It's in the best interests of the companies to put a stop to ME and it's also reasonably easy for them to configure it, let's just hope the companies still allowing it see differently and do take a pro-active step in banning it, and all the cheaters who use it to their advantage!

Thanks 'shapala' - very kind and good words.

I suppose technically though anyone who uses them arent cheating, they are paying for a service, whether morally right or wrong.

That being said - its the actual companies who are offering prizes who are being - well THICK!
    Why you may ask?
Simple ok so 'tesco' (just for this example) are being targetted, so they will have say 100,000 auto entries which will say cover 5,000 auto entry members, well thats 5,000 people who wont even visit the tesco site as they know their entries are sorted..

Then theres the hard working mse'ers who like myself may not bother entering any of the comps that are being targetted - say another 5,000 people.

So thats 10,000 LESS visitors that tesco will receive, now for a big company like tesco im sure they dont care but there are a lot of smaller companies who would LOVE 10,000 visitors..

So my point is these companies are actually missing out on potentially thousands of new customers..

So whether right or wrong - how on earth do these companies think that allowing multiple entries will benefit them???

Anyway thanks for reading and good luck to all..:T

P.s Im 100% happy with what ive won since starting, i did it as i wanted to have a good holiday but still be able to enjoy day to day life without skinting ourselves.
I have now acheived that and like i said to my partner as far as im concerned from now all i want to win is enough between now and may next year to be able to take a holiday next year (so ive got a year to win say £1500) and thats fine for me, if i dont win for another 8 months so be it as long a s i can do what i ve done in my 3 short months here, then thats enough for me, thats life changing enough (especially as all i have to do is sit on my bum)

I just want fairness for all - take 'pechow' for example not won a sausage and yet been a member longer than me, and i know theres hundreds of others on here in the same boat.
Im not greedy (yes id love to win thousands and thousands or an itv comp) but if i dont, and all i can do is basically get a free holiday each year out of this then im prepared to sit here day after day 10 hours+ trying.

So The very best of luck to anyone who hasnt won at all, and here from me to you all is some lucky group hug :grouphug:
