When to do INR taking Christmas delays into account?

I sniped an item on Sunday, December 4th and paid the following day. I was going away for Christmas and was a bit concerned that it would arrive after I'd left and then retured to sender. I put a note on the payment and also messaged the seller to let them know I would be away from the 15th and suggested sending it so that it arrived after Christmas or I could them them an alternative address or they could use collect+. On the Wednesday the seller told me she had posted the item and I should get it in time.

After a week had passed, I hadn't received the item so I contacted the seller. She didn't reply so I contacted her again. She evenually replied and said she couldn't believe I hadn't received it yet and would check with the PO asap. I've contacted her several times since than but not had a reply. The item still hasn't arrived. Would I be justified in raising an INR now or should I allow a bit more for Xmas delays?

It should be there by now. I was sending 1st class stuff on the 20th that got there before Christmas! How big is the package? Try phoning (or going to) your local Royal Mail delivery office to see if they have it - plenty of posties not leaving cards these days.

That's what worries me. With all the Christmas deliveries if the postie had run out of cards it may have been retured to the sorting office and returned to sender! That's why I sent the seller a note!

It was a big package - if it had been small I would have had it sent to my work address. I'll give it a couple more days and go round to the sorting office.

I ordered something from 7dayshop a couple of days before Christmas and it arrived in a couple of days so there doesn't seem to have been a backlog. Last year, one item took over a month to arrive!

Your delivery office will keep it for 3 weeks (unless it was recorded which will be 2 weeks) before attempting to return to sender. If the sender didn't put a return address it may be kept for a bit longer. Contact your delivery office ASAP - dont leave it a couple more days - you can find their number via google.

The trouble is that they don't seem to asnwer their phone  so I'll have to go round tomorrow! Do they allow any extra time at Christmas?

I thought they kept recorded items for a week?

Is it 3 calendar weeks or 15 working days? ie, do you get an extra three days because of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's day? Would they have a record of it if it had been returned?

I'm not even sure if it was actually posted. It would be unusual (in my experience) for the postie to not leave a card. The seller seems unconcerned (hasn't replied to my messages) and the winning bid was 1/3 of the BIN price so I wouldn't be surprised if it's "lost in the post".

I went to the office. They didn't have the parcel and there was no record of it in the returns book.

The seller hasn't replied to my last three messages. I'll give it till Monday and do an INR through PayPal if I don't have any success...
