Private feedback

I thought the ability to make your feedback private had been abolished?

The buyer who gave me tremendous grief and was turning into a real psycho has made her feedback private. By searching for her purchases and looking at the feedback she's left others I can see she's been up to the same, almost blackmailing, tricks.

It doesn't seem fair that she can hide her feedback yet comments on negatives she's left are there for all too see.

  • That doesn't seem fair.

So why do ebay allow buyers to make their feedback private apart from hiding the comments regarding negatives?

    Think of it this way.

A dodgy seller is a far more dangerous thing than a dodgy buyer.

  • Not always.

Says me who's refunded almost £70 and now realises I've been well and truly had.

My colleague has just sold a painting for £250, but the buyer is not responding to emails, and they are set as 'private' - which is not encouraging. What's his next step, obviously he is not sending the goods til this is resolved...?

I personally think that private feedback should be abolished completely. What other reason could a buyer have to hide their feedback than to disguise comments they dont want other sellers to see?

As a buyer I cannot buy from someone with private feedback as they cannot list to sell, but as a seller I can do nothing to prevent people from buying from me who have private feedback.

If the option continues to hide feedback I think sellers should be able to set their selling preferences to block buyers with private feedback. I would do so immediately.

Example: buyer with private feedback yesterday bought 3 items from me (all very heavy) for which the postage per the listings totalled £17.00. They checked out and made a paypal payment but took off the postage alltogether. I refunded them and messaged them asking them to pay with postage. Suprise Suprise, no response and their listed phone number is incorrect.

Feedback is a major feature within eBay so why do eBay allow people to continue to hide it if they wish?
