I think, without checking back, that the report only mentioned the fact she had had 11 children but never gave any indication that they all lived with her. The kids fathered by her ex's could very well live with them for all we know, and we do know she only gets CB for 6 of those children"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

No one is suggesting that the existing kids should be starved into an early grave (although it seems one of them at least is in the process of smoking himself into one at our expense).
Isn't there enough genuine hardship, illness, inadequate pensions, underfunded cancer/Parkinsons/altzeimers research, overstretched doctors and nurses, etc. etc., where the precious revenue paid albeit grudgingly by the vast majority of the population could be better employed, rather than encouraging, by implicit approval (or at least absence of disapproval) the irresponsible to smugly rake in shedloads of "support", when they ought to have been supporting themselves?

Curry_Queen,
On the Entitled To calculator it comes up with the following when you put in a disability premium for a child:-
"At present EntitledTo is unable to calculate your tax credit entitlement: you have more than one child and we can not tell whether the child born after April 2002 is the one who is eligible for a disability premium. Please get an estimate from the Inland Revenue."
Yes the oldest would be 25 if she had her first at 17 then.Torgwen.....................

Bogof_Babe,
Yes of course there's plenty of hardship. Let's get rid of Sport and the Arts for a start.Torgwen.....................

Fran surprisingly enough I couldn't agree more about the Arts - it doesn't actually add anything to the lives of those who don't participate, and those who do should budget for their leisure pursuits same as the rest of us have to.
As for Sport, again I more or less agree. I certainly think a lot of money is wasted for the pleasure of the few, and I am dubious about the grand plan for hosting the Olympics in 2012.
I make the proviso that I don't think school playing fields should be sold off to raise finance for other projects, as this is often the only exercise kids get nowadays, and it would contribute to long term health problems (which "we" would be paying for) if this was taken away.
Now, while we're on a roll, where else can we save money?I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Well we could do without politicians. If we did keep them, they could go and live and work in that street in wherever it was where the whole street is only worth about £12,000. That would also bring them closer to the less well off.Torgwen..........

Yes I got that too initially so tried it again with all children born before 2002, mainly out of curiosity as to what the entitlement would be. I'm not overly familiar with tax credits though so I wouldn't ahve a clue if the figure I gave was a true representation or not.
I've just had a look at the IR website and used their calculator, inputting more or less the same info and it's thrown up a really weird set of figures, but I don't know if they are weekly, monthly or annual entitlementsChild Tax Credit £939.93
Childcare element of Working Tax Credit £0.00
Sub total £939.93
Working Tax Credit (less the childcare element of Working Tax Credit) £94.05
Total £1033.98
Note: The childcare element of Working Tax Credit will always be paid direct to the person who is mainly responsible for caring for the child or children, alongside payments of Child Tax Credit
No wonder so many people get confused over the Tax Credit system

if that's till the end of the tax year (2 weeks?) it seems like a lot.
i got my child benefit letter this week, if you have a child under 6 you protect your state pension, or some sort of pension, i can't remember what. does this mean if they always have a child under 6 they'll get a higher pension that those who get the income support style pension? (you can tell i know nothing about pensions lol!)52% tight0 -

You mean the IR site calculates your actual figure for the remainder of the tax year? It did ask for dates of starting work etc so I set it to start next week and used the benefit figure already given as income for the last tax year.
Maybe someone who knows more about the TC system could give us an ideai got my child benefit letter this week, if you have a child under 6 you protect your state pension, or some sort of pension, i can't remember what. does this mean if they always have a child under 6 they'll get a higher pension that those who get the income support style pension?
