A car seat that folds up?

Pretty much most lorries used to have passenger seats that folded up. Certainly Volvos do. The best part is that due to the way they're fixed to the cab floor it is an absolute doddle to make up an adapter to make it fit in your vehicle. Also the forward back slider is part of the seat base.

I'd find a company that breaks HGVs and take a look at a Volvo FM or FH passenger seat. Passenger seats rarely get used in lorries and its not something someone would buy so you should be able to get one as cheap as chips.

  • renault megane scenic rear seats all easily remove and fold. and if space is a premium the center rear seat upto 2003 ( no experience of newer ones) is about 80% size so takes less roomand when back of seat is folded down it has a table on the back.

Single seats? LandRover Discovery side facing seats sound like what you want.

Or the forward facing foldaway seat from a 7 seat Discovery 2? Or from a current generation Defender 90?

Or if you want to buy new, Exmoor Trim make some excellent foldaway seats that might suit.
  • How about one of the fold up seats found in PTS ambulances

Usually can be had for not much on ebay, thought you may have to wait for an auction

Quick search has found these on a BIN

Don't be so dramatic you would fit the seat the same way you would fit any other functioning seat into a camper, believe it or not its done all the time its not big issue to fit a seat properly with a seat belt. Using a seat from a people carrier is probably a good way to go as you long as you fit the floor rails as a lot of the people carriers are designed to have the seats removed easily.

    Lol my thoughts too.

The issue I got - this camper started life out as a bus so I have the bus doors on the passenger side thats folds in, as I will be making a new bulk head on that side to make a supporting wall for the seat and the other side will be the wet room (or shower) so I am looking for a seat that I can "bolt" to the wall and small part of the floor space stright down into the chassis members. Seat belt would be mounted in to the steel frame of the door piller of the bus doors (welded on) and same another 2 mounting points to the floor into the chassis. All within the regs that I've checked with VOSA on (laws etc as I need to fit 3 point belt system in place now)

The reason why i ask about the model and car makes (even trucks as I drive these and I know Scania ones work.. but for £500 for a set I am not willing to go down that route just yet) - is, once I found a seat that works to the spec and I like it, I rather get the pair (inc the drivers seat) and replace the horrid Merc Driver (stagecoach) seat that is currently init now :D

Luxury goes along way and rather spend good pennies ;)

    L-S

Edit: I must stress.. what I am looking for is the bottom part of the seat to fold "up" not the back rest part to fold down ;)

Current am looking at Land Rover stuff now as that seems to be the best field to find a seat that will do the job :D (and some decent drivers seats too)
