Ex Monsoon employee not being paid owed wages for over 4 months

  • I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in this matter. New to Monsoon, have been been employed with the company for a month and have yet to receive a pay check. I signed forms for direct deposit then was told that I would receive a paper check by mail, but yet I have received nothing. This has not only happened to me but several other employees of Monsoon from two different stores. We have also been lied to repeatedly by head management about full time and part time status as well as there not being a number that we can call to address the matter of not being paid. On top of that head management told us that there is no headquarters to contact because they're moving from the UK to the US (NY). Can anyone help?

If you've been there a month, it's very possible that you missed last month's payroll, and so will hit the next one (ie, you'd have to work around 6-7 weeks before being paid).

They may have promised a cheque, but it wouldn't be usual to process payroll that way, so someone more senior may have said "no, he'll have to wait until next payroll" and get the normal processing.

You say you've been waiting, but who are you talking to? The store manager? Area manager? Area personnel manager? HR? There's always *someone* to talk to, and if you can't get the number of payroll, your manager can. You have to keep asking.

No idea about their HQ, but it doesn't matter; someone in the UK will know about payroll. :)

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

My friend is leaving because they apparently have just changed the staff discount from 75% to 50%.

Why on earth is your friend leaving because the discount changed? There must be more to it than that. 50 percent is a very good staff discount to get in retail. I wouldn't be leaving a job because the discount in the store had changed. I guess people have all sorts of different priorities in life. Does your friend have another job to go to?

Any discount is good imo, after all they don't have to

One company I started for I had to wait for almost 7 weeks to get my first pay. The pay stop date is like the 15th. So if you did o/t before the 15th, it will be in that month's pay. I joined the company on the 17th and their pay date was the 27th

    Jason,

You are unlikely to find anyone on a UK forum who knows much about the US employment law. You really need to find a US-centric forum to post this on.

    Best of luck,
