Having some fun with VM

I currently pay VM £33 per month for TV M (freeview), V+ box, Bband L, Phone L (includes 250 mins per month phoning 0845 and 0870 numbers) and phone line rental.

I am currently thinking of getting a freeview PVR box.

I had a bit of fun this week. I phoned up TalkTalk, who offered me offered me their essentials package for £21 per month, which is the same as the VM phone and BBand service that I currently get with VM apart from a 40GB download limit per month and free phone calls starting after 1900hrs. I would also have to pay £25 to get my phone line converted back to a BT line.

I have today phoned VM threatening to leave and hey presto, they are now offering me £22 per month for Bband L, Phone L (includes free 0845 and 0870 numbers) and phone line rental. By the way, I ensured that the VM customer service rep recorded the offer in writing in my records.

I will now be escalating to VM exec team to complain as I don't see why I should have paid and will be paying £11 extra per month for a freeview TV service. Be interesting to see what response I get.

Virgin to not provide any Freeview services, and never have. BT Vision supply it, and offer customers bolt ons to enhance this. You will require a standard (not VM, telephone line to be installed). Incidentally, the 0845/0870 numbers are not free, only inclusive.

I'm at a loss what your actual complaint is.

They do...it is called the TV M package but they do not pro-actively advertise it !!

I know. Please read my OP again where I state 'I would also have to pay £25 to get my phone line converted back to a BT line.'

They are included within the £22 per month cost so they won't cost me anything extra if I make any 0845/0870 calls; so in effect they will be free.

Let me explain. Why should I have paid VM £11 per month extra for a Freeview service ? My complaint may not have a successful outcome; however it is worth a go ! especially as all of my previous email complaints have always given me a successful outcome with the VM exec team.

    HTHs.

0845 numbers are not included in any of the price plans whilst 0870 numbers are.

For new user yes ! but for existing users it is different ! 0845 numbers are included as part of their tickles offerings and as shown in my previous posts in this thread.

    HTHs and clarifies.

The Virgin M TV - freeview as you call it - also provides 'catch up service for most of those channels - so you don't specifically have to have recorded anything to watch it for up to 7 days - not all prog though but main ones

There is also some random stuff available, can't remember the section it appears in , but last time I looked the complete Fawlty Towers series was available for free viewing and some other similar stuff too

Thats 2 reasons they they might say that is why there is a charge - but of course if you don't need or want those ..

Freeview comes over the air - virgin comes through cable - through their infrastructure and box, with a VM card in it.

Its not freeview and cannot be compared as such as its a different delivery method...

I can't see the complaint - you can go to Freeview if you like and pay for the PVR box, the aerial if you need it...etc.

But I am not new user, I have had the land line with them for years.
