in the last few hours had over 5 cold callers, consumer lifestyle, and silent calls. getting sick of it now.

I even pretended to be someone else over the phone to consumer lifestyle pretending to be deaf and not understanding their questions, I thought she would get tired after 30 minutes even when i told her my dog had messed the carpet and wife had fallen down the stairs, but nothing would put her questioning off, only a few more questions she said. I had to hang up.

anyway is there any numbers I can call that take you off a data bse of all these bloody callers.

You are doing great. Keep wasting their time.

Remember though they are calling you if you don't want to keep them amused for 30 minutes JUST HANG UP!

Tell them you will go and get your mother, then put the phone down alongside the cradle and walk away.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Im a member of a well known scamming website, this year to date ive had 17 stolen banking details from scammers.

I could not believe it when I hung up on this woman 30 minutes later she rang back, did not ask if wifey was ok and if I had cleaned up the mess from our dog, just wanted to finish the survey. When im doing nothing I keep them on the phone for as long as I can but she took the biscuit.

Its annoying though. Im sure a while ago my mother had a phone number that she rang and an automated message about taking your number off some kind of database. Her silent calls ceased within 1 month.

Most of these calls emanate from overseas and are not covered by the rules of the TPS.

The only way to deal with them is to stop talking to them. They are collecting info from you for targetting you with (usually scam) sales offers, false insurance/loan get-outs or, at worst, identity theft.

The more you speak to them, the more they will ring you and the more information you give them, especially if you lose your temper and don't think about what you are saying. You then become classed as a "responder" and your phone number gets sold on to other scammers.

When they ask "Can I speak to xxxxx", reply with "Who's calling?" and if it is a nuisance call put the receiver down without further comment. If you use this technique, although it may take a long time, the calls will become less and less frequent.

Just had a call from Simply Supplements offering amazing deals on vitamins etc, said I wasn't interested until later in the month and the call was ended without another word, looks like they may be getting desperate.
  • I recently had about 20 silent calls from an O2 mobile number. I emailed the O2 CEO's office to tell them and added that now I have told them they are part of the problem and are ''knowingly breaking the cold call guidelines''.
Calls stopped within 24 hours and they have now emailed me to say they have pulled the number as it was being misused.:T

Well if you are going to play them around [for which I applaud you], then you have to see it through. Getting her to ring you back in half an hour was a success - you had her hooked and you wasted her time.

Do you mean an antiscamming website?
