To be honest it sounds like you're hawking for compensation with the 'my sons life has been put in danger' comments.
The problem is that he was rude and used the wrong treatment for the area and that should be the basis of the complaint.0 -

Not after compensation, thanks for that analysis. I wouldn't get a penny anyway, no harm has actually been done!
My son's life HAS been put in danger and what this man from pest control did was very serious, and that came from the man from Rentokil! I'm peed off and I want something done, and rightly so.
And yes that's exactly what the email is about - the fact that he was rude and didn't do his job properly which could have resulted in my child being harmed. Do you think it's right for someone who has no regard for safety to be in that line of work, where he's handling dangerous poisons? I don't! I'd rather competant people with common sense do the job, not an idiotic, incompetant fool.0 -
Sorry to hear about the problems you have experienced but I feel it would have been better to make the letter shorter, with less waffle, and also to state clearly what you want done to resolve the issue for you as you have left it too open
Good luck getting things sorted0 -
I'm not sure why you deleted your post but like I said, you mentioned your son coming to harm / danger three times but in reality he didn't come to any harm. That is how the email came across when I read it, too much emphasis on what could have happened rather than what actually happened. If it seemed to me that you could have been looking for compensation then the council could read it the same way..... nevermind the 'won't somebody think of the children', posts that often follow comments like that on here0

Not sure why the OP deleted her original post, but so that the rest of the thread doesn't become meaningless, here it is...Complaint to Liverpool City Council regarding pest control.
Hope this is in the right place.
I've sent this email of complaint to Liverpool City Council, I'm wondering if there's anyone else I should send it on to as well, like someone who regulates pest control if that makes sense? I couldn't find any email addresses apart from the one on the council's website, liverpool.direct@liverpool.gov.uk. I really do want this taken seriously, so I want to make sure it gets to the right person/people!
Is this email ok? I'm a bit rubbish at complaining and it makes me cringe a bit! But I'm a just a little bit peed off about this and it was when the bloke from Rentokil made it very clear how dangerous and wrong it was to put the pellets where he did that I got REALLY cross!
Anyone work for pest control or have any ideas as to whether he was right to put the pellets down where he did?
Anyway, here's the email!Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to make a very serious complaint regarding a problem I have had with mice in my flat, and the subsequent treatment that I received from a gentleman from the pest control team.
I moved into this flat on the 13th of November. I soon noticed that there was an infestation of mice, which were finding their way into the flat via a gap underneath the gas heater in the living room. I contacted Liverpool City Council about this and was given an appointment for someone from pest control to come out and deal with the situation on Wednesday the 7th of December, between the hours of 9am and 4pm.
However, I popped out early in the morning on the Wednesday and came back (at 8.45am) to find that somebody from pest control had been and had left a calling card. I telephoned Liverpool City Council and was given another appointment. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was very friendly and apologetic and explained that some people are "still working in summer hours" and that it wasn't acceptable and assured me that it wouldn't happen again. He made me another appointment for the following week, again it was to be between the hours of 9am and 4pm.
The following week, the same thing happened. However this time, I made sure to be back at 8.30am, just in case. Another calling card had been left. Again, I rung Liverpool City Council. Another apology and a vague "we don't know if he'll come back today or not, we'll let you know." Nobody ever did get back to me, but a couple of hours later he did come back, without any notice or an apology.
The gentleman was extremely rude, unfriendly and very unhelpful. He made no secret of the fact that he had been inconvenienced by me not being available when he decided to show up early in the morning. For some reason, I found myself apologising to him for not being at home when he'd previously called. He very arrogantly replied that I "should have just answered my phone".
He then, very hurriedly, proceeded to fill a small box with some red pellets and shoved them into the gap underneath the heater, and said something along the lines of "that'll be alright there won't it, with the little one running around?" - I asked "I don't know...will it?!" and he carried on what he was doing. He then filled 2 more boxes and placed them behind the television cabinet in the living room, and behind the computer table, also in the front room. He then said "see you after new year" and made his way towards the front door. There was absolutely no explanation of what these pellets were, or what he had done. He left and slammed the front door behind him. I have no idea if or when he will be back.
Now we get to the very serious issue. Over the past few weeks, since the gentleman's visit, I have noticed that these red pellets keep getting knocked out of the gap underneath the gas heater by the mice and are left on the rug on the living room floor, where my 2 year old son plays. I have also since noticed a large area of broken pieces of red pellet underneath the tv cabinet, which is easily accessible by my son. The mouse problem has actually become far worse since the pellets have been laid down, many times I have caught mice crawling over my son's toys. I understand that this in itself is a serious health hazard and can cause my son to become very unwell due to the bacteria carried around by mice and in their urine. However, the issue of him eating the red pellets is, as I now understand, far more serious.
I got in touch with my housing association about these issues and they have been in touch with Rentokil, who are coming out tomorrow to resolve the situation. I was informed today by Rentokil that it is actually illegal to lay these pellets down in places where children have access to them (or anyone for that matter) and they are to be used only in places like lofts, where they pose no danger to humans. I was absolutely horrifed to learn this, even more horrified by the fact that such a dangerous substance has been put where my son can easily get hold of it - at his age, he puts everything in his mouth.
This issue needs to be taken very seriously, as, unbeknownst to me, my son's life has been put in danger. The service provided by the gentleman from pest control was disgustingly unprofessional and as far as I am concerned, he shouldn't be trusted to do the job that he is doing.
I await your response and look forward to hearing how you are going to resolve this situation.
Many thanks0 -
I do wonder though at the " unbeknownst to me " part.......you called the rat ( or mice in this case ) killer, how did you think they would kill said animal ?There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

Seems like a good letter to me, too. I'd be furious if someone had endangered anyone in my family like that.
But I guess the OP has just given up. I can't understand why they would delete the original post -- it's a bit inconsiderate to deliberately make a thread difficult to read.0 -
Agree with it being a good letter.
I left a property one month before the end of my contract when we found we had mice. I was 3 months pregnant, and the letting agent seemed to think that it was appropriate pest control to give me a powder to distribute myself. A powder that was dangerous and not suitable for indoor use.
Anyway, they took me to court to try and sue me for the last month's rent. The court sided with me due to the fact that had I used said powder, my health (and that of my child and my husband) would have been at risk. And even if I wasn't stupid enough to use the powder (which I most definitely wasn't going to do) there was still a health risk from the mice. However, I didn't actually suffer any health issues, sometimes the potential issues are enough to warrant an investigation, and no harm needs to be done. It's all about prevention. Maybe next time someone WILL be hurt!
As an aside, we moved out of that hovel in November 2009, and it's still appearing on RightMove! Obviously no-one wants to move in, I wonder why???0 -

Preferably without risking the health of the occupants?0
