Oh come on, they ain't going to tickle the mice to death and if it isn't a mouse trap it will be poison.

Yes the rentokil guy wasn't professional but the OP should have had some common sense in that its poison.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Maybe, but the child is unlikely to know this when he puts it in his mouth. I'm sure there are other methods for indoors available which are less hazardous to op - confirmed by the fact according to Rentoki, this method is illegal.

I think op has a perfectly legitimat complaint, irrespective of what did or didn't happen!

You can get prebaited traps that use poison blocks instead of granules and which are specifically designed to be used where there are children or household pets in the area.
With this type, you don't get the rodents dragging bits of the poison out of the boxes.

Killing them won't solve the issue, plenty more mice where they came from!

Wire wool will solve your problem, they H A T E the stuff. Seriously, bung a load down the hole and fill the hole with it and seal it in place.

    I kid you not.

I'd have nodded off reading that letter :o

I can not comment on the councils pest control practices mentioned within the letter, but I'm very glad that my Rentokil colleague acted in a professional manner when visiting the customer after the council incident. I would also like to respectfully correct Googlewhacker's reference regarding the professionalism of my Rentokil colleague.
  • Section 3(3) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 implies that the information relating to the poison left with you should have been supplied with information relating to it, so if anything had gone wrong - you could have received appropriate assistance quickly. Fortunately it didn't, but this was hopefully a school boy error or oversight that a short phone call, and quick re-visit could have easily remedied for you. Always try to seek win-win, but never leave issues involving things like this to chance.

I do wonder though at the " unbeknownst to me " part.......you called the rat ( or mice in this case ) killer, how did you think they would kill said animal ?
By playing the X Factor Winners' Greatest Hit CD on loop? :)

    4 points.

    1) I absolutely LOVE the word "unbeknownst" - like summat out of Dickens!!!

    2) The OP was doing OK til they said the ratman was "disgustingly unprofessional"

    3) Writing "ignore please" on something makes everyone look.

    4) My guess is that she was peed off at ratman (for being rude on his visit and mucking her about) and looking for a way to get back at him with a complaint.
