Hi booking glasgow to brisbane with emirates later today and just a few thoughts running round my head.
Anyone reccomend any seats worth pre-booking 2 adults 1 child (2) think you can book when on-line checking in
Do you get a IN-FLIGHT AMENITY KIT in economy or is that only for BC & FC passengers?
Was told the airline would give us a free hotel in dubai because we arrive @ 12.30am and next flight is not untill 8.30am, just wondered if anyone has experiance of this ?
And your view in general about emirates would be greatly appriciated.

I flew Emirates from UK to Oz a few years back. I actually flew BC but experienced First and also Economy on the same trip because of a few delays. I would say that it is a good airline to travel. They were Airline of the Year a few years back and I supposed they deserved it. The planes are usually quite modern (767 and airbus) and I would say that there economy class is on a par with other big carriers (sea back screens etc) . I dont recall in flight amenity bags but that may have changed. Dubai airport is very modern and changing planes is very straightforward. Check out their website and also compare their economy legroom with other airline by doing a google search. All told I would recommend them.0

More info here about seating http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Emirates_Airlines/information.phpPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I took Emirates last year and there is no amenity kit for economy class. You can prebook seats when (and after) you buy your tickets, so it should not be a problem.
Have no experience in their free hotel accommodation in Dubai though.
It's quite a good airline and I will be pleased to fly with them again.0 -
No amenity kit, but they will give you pretty much anything you need if you ask.
It doesn't sound like you will get accommodation, as it would have been pre-booked. I bet their were connecting flights possible as well (possibly just full). Still, there are worse places to spend 7 odd hours. The Irish Bar is (was) open 24 hours.0 -
They are a pretty good airline.
Economy on their 777s can be rather cramped, so try to choose a different 'plane if possible.0 -

The standard 777 seat configuaration is 3-3-3, emirates do 3-4-3.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Hi thanks for all the replys .
We booked through flightcentre and the guy said the airline will give us a free room because of the waiting time, i'm not fussed but trying to keep a "normal" routine with a 2yr old could be difficult.
I think the amenity bags are just BC and FC but there are loads on ebay, just handy for a freshen up.
It's the 777 we're going on .0 -
I flew with Emirates in economy on my honeymoon and was very impressed - best economy I've been on really. I didn't feel very well on the plane and they were very good at looking after me and providing me with relevant medicines.
Enjoy your trip.0 -
We used Emirates last year to NZ and we were pleased with the service, no shortage of drinks, hot towels regularly, decent food etc
From Manchester to Dubai we had a 2 3 2 config so we didn't have anyone next to us.
I thought the journey was very comfortable but I am 5 foot tall no plane is comfy if you have long legs and even with short one's you are glad when you get to your destination.

I second this.
The inflight service was very good. Free drinks wine with meals abound.
If they ask you do a customer survey, take them up on the offer. We got loads of freebies.
We have flown to Dubai and Sri Lanka every year for the last three years and wouldn't fly to the Gulf with anyone else.
Dubai airport is fatastic and you'll find a bargain or two there. Spirits and smokes are cheapest anywhere, but you can only buy 1 litre/200.
Hope this helps.nearlyrich wrote:We used Emirates last year to NZ and we were pleased with the service, no shortage of drinks, hot towels regularly, decent food etc
