Options
Will JSA bank payments be processed on the same day now that banks are implementing the 'faster payments' scheme?

No, JSA remain 3 working days! DWP won't accept Faster Payments Scheme unless for high priority reason only!
  • So why unearth are the DWP allowed to float the new European Union Legislation yet everyone else has to step into line?

I know mate, it the way DWP are useless over xmas payments delayed, JSA 3 working days payment is bit unfair really. DWP will never rush payments, never do!
  • I have to wait 5 days because my signing-on day is on a Thursday! (so I don't get any measly benefit money until the following Tuesday!). It's a prehistoric system and very odd - if you are on incapacity benefit you get your payment in your account on 'signing-on' day - so the rest of us are at a disadvantage.

Weekend is not working day neither bank holiday too. I had phoned up DWP about faster payment in line with European Union Legislation and DWP had say JSA remain 3 working days payment, no change!

You can ask the Jobcentre to change it to Tuesday sign on day, so you can get paid on the following Friday.
  • I didn't know you could request a different signing-on day - can you really do this? 5 days is a killer!

They shouldn't do this and its against procedure to do so.

I did it once before explaining the reason of why I want to sign on on the Tuesday instead of Wednesday, they accepted and moved me back to Tuesday and I get paid every fortnightly on the Friday (use to be Monday)

But I am not on JSA anymore. I am now on ESA support group.
  • I thought so. So all of those who sign-on on a Tuesday are at an advantage to those who have to wait over the weekend to have their payments processed. Mmmm.
You would think that in this day and age 'working bank days' would be extinct. It's all done by computers which, last time I checked, don't have weekends off.
