Moving home - to change from Sky?

Hi everyone

I am moving home soon and note that the new property has a Sky dish so assume that Sky can be viewed at the property. I know from an online check that Virgin Media TV cannot be viewed at the property so thats out - however I am wondering about BT?

I have never had any experience with BT for anything other than phone line - are they as good as virgin and sky?

Also, I recently spoke to someone (who works for sky phone help) who told me that where I am moving they think Sky actually rent the airwaves (?!!) from BT which limits the broadband.

I don't trust Sky to give me acurate advice on the phone (from previous experience they will be as rude and underhand as possible to keep you) and I can't seem to find an online checker for anything other than Virgin.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Chances are you're moving to an area that isn't covered by Sky LLU. So you'll get re-branded BT Broadband called "Sky Connect", and I'd advise you not to get it.

BT are pretty good for Broadband, usually slightly more expensive. But if there are no other LLU operators at your exchange then I'd recommend you go with them. BT Vision (TV) is, essentially, just freeview.

OP Check what you can get using an Exchange search on Samknows, this will tell you if any LLU services are available.
Agree with the comment re Sky Connect, a rebadged BT product.
FYI ADSL Broadband comes down the telephone line not over the airways!
That gum you like is coming back in style.

BT Vision is just Freeview with some on-demand content. It it not a substitute from VM or Sky subscription TV, and it locks you into BT's overpriced broadband and phone service.
If you don't want subscription-only channels you'd be better off with a free service such as Freeview or Fresat, and using a PVR for recording/playback if such services are required.
If there are no LLU options on your exchange, then you are not tied to BT- for broadband-you can use any of dozens of non-LLU providers, such as Plusnet, Zen, etc.
    Start with samknows.
Your friend who works for Sky clearly needs sending for urgent retaining if they think broadband comes via a satellite dish.
