Advice On Buying A New Car ~ Too Good To Be True?

Hi Guys
I am looking to buy a brand new car, and like the look of the Ford Mondeo hatchbacks. They get good reviews, and with a new model coming out later this year, there should be some good prices about. But by searching the internet, I have found several brokers, who are offering 30%+ off the list price.
For instance, the very tasty Ford Mondeo 1.8 Sci Ghia X 5dr has a list price of £20,695.
But buyacar.co.uk has it for £14,168 here: http://www.buyacar.co.uk/detailyq11202.jhtml?process=true&vehicle=11202&model=343&channel=new&useIndex=false&pageNum=1&orderBy=derivativeString&manufacturer=2514&idx=9
uk-car-discount.co.uk has it for £14,347 here:http://uk-car-discount.co.uk/user/detail.aspx?id=1486
and carbrokeruk.com has it for even cheaper, £13,925, here: http://carbrokeruk.com/cheap_new_car_ford/mondeo_hatchback.php
I know there are big discounts to be got, but these savings seem enormous. UK Car Discounts state that all their cars are full UK spec, and come complete with full UK warranty from a UK Ford main dealer, and I'm very tempted.
Have any moneysaving experts bought cars from online car brokers, and can anyone explain why these prices appear so cheap?
Many thanks

not even one year old yet, and £7999, even if you do get one for £14k, is it worth that drop in price?0 -
Note the drop in price will be more dramatic when a new model comes out.0

Have a looksee here..
http://www.motorpoint.co.uk/(S(szejea55m0thz0u1yz3sdnqf))/Search/GroupResults.aspx?make=Ford&model=Mondeo&type=0
Bottom of the page Ghia X witlh 1600 miles = yes 16 hundred miles. £11999
Top spec Mondeo...rock bottom price.
I wouldn't buy new again.... My last few cars always 6 months old... let some other shmoe take the main depreciation hit.
Best

Do you never wonder why somebody might be getting rid of a car after 6 months? Whoever bought it from new must realise they are making a huge loss, but if they still are prepared to get rid of the car I would be very suspicious as to why.

Because they're a rental company and, by buying in bulk of thousands, are actually making a small profit at disposal. Seriously.Debt at highest: September 2003 - £26,350
Debt now: £14,100
Debt free day: October 2008 :beer:0 -
Large saloon/hatch, part of the car market is the worst performing sector & isn't likely to improve. Used to be standard reps models & sold loads, now people have a wider choice of larger/smaller/more efficient/better choice out there.
& yes Mondeo is a good car, but Mazda 6 or Vectra are better still & just as 'cheap'.
The late model & low mileage pre owned is an even better Moneysaving idea, in this instance - although I usually say to do your sums & see just how good a deal you can get on BRAND NEW, new!!
But do just think how many there will be available, come selling on again time - best get the highest spec you can, to make it slightly more attractive to the next owner!!

I have brought several cars from UK INternet brokers and have found them all very good, provided you have no part exchange. drivethedeal.com was great when i bought a new Golf a few years back.
My advice to you greensea27 is DO NOT BUY a new mondeo whatever the price. They are great cars, especially the diesels, but they lose their value like no ones business. As a few others have said buy a year old one at much less than half the price, espcially if it is a ford. remember the new model is out in the summer which will depress prices of the old model further.0 -
Try asking for pre-registered cars. They are brand new but officially are second hand. They are basically 'bought' by the dealerships to meet sales targets!
