I love receiving home made gifts much more interesting then a gift pack from Boots (Nothing wrong with Boots lol). It reminds me that someone loves me enough to spend time on my present. Im not very crafty however I do enjoy giving Friendship jars - Empty jar with 365 sayings or verses on the paper. My friends love them and I even receive requests for them lol x

  • Hello!
Never posted on this thread before - still in the process of trying to read through all of the 2011 ones!
New Years resolution this year is to start and finish making a patchwork quilt. Been hand sewing the whole thing so far because I don't have a sewing machine so my mum said she'd buy me a cheapish one :)
Can anyone recommend one? Or tell me which one I should go for out of these few?

    Brother LS2125 - £79
    Toyota Super Jeans - £149
    John Lewis JL110SE - £99

(won't let me post links as a new user, sorry!)

Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hayley :)

  • hayleysellick,
    Welcome to the thread!
There are some reasonably priced ones in our local Aldi, but I on't know how good the are or what they do. They are by Singer.

You could try a fleecy type tube that goes round the neck, with a slit up either side, half way so you have two panels that go down the back and the front. It cosies round the neck (and over the head if you want) too. I bought one of these a few years ago and thought about how easy it would be to make, guess what everybody got for Christmas that year!
The one I bought was a polopancho from Ideal World, but you can get them all over now, buy a fleecy blanket, it's cheaper than buying by the metre.
  • Hi :) Can I join in please? I'd love some advice on making some bits and bobs. I'm hoping to make wooden plaques, one for my partners mum and another for my best friends baby. Trying to source materials, can anyone suggest anywhere other than ebay?

Also going to start making a patchwork quilt (I've only done very basic sewing before!) although my sewing machine isn't working so I need to try and figure out what's wrong with that x
