I can't find this thread so though I'd start it, if it has already been started please merge.
Unfortunately my last years good intentions led to no homemade presents
However I did have a baby so that's my excuse (I did make his Christmas stocking though).
That also means that I'm now on statutory pay and need to get scrimping and creating, I've got the craft supplies so it's time to limber up and start making all those pressies ready for the year to come :T:T
Please share your ideas, photos and any links to good sites for inspiration.
Here's to a creative New Year

I already have most of my gifts in but they are all rather small so I am looking at bulking them out with homemade hampers from the other thread. Birthdays will be the same as it's just so cheap yet satisfying to do. Some people I give to will not be chuffed but that will be too bad. I am determined to spend as little as possible this year!
So yay new thread (and the first comment, well it was when I started

I am joining again - did kids crayon wraps this year. Am thinking of knitting glove / wrist warmers for them this year. Just need to master something other than basic knitting and geta pattern - seen a few free someone online somewhere.
Its the adults i have problems with as i just cant see homemade going down very well with most of them

I love homemade pressies my wonderful friend knitted me some babuska russian dolls before christmas and a family friend knitted me a tea cosey with flowers on, plus my baby has had some beautiful knitted blankets. I love that someone has bothered to spend time making me something.
Below are piccys of just a small selection of presents people made for my baby last year (I'll put the rest on soon);0 -
Great stocking Laura D! How lovely to bring such a lovely stocking out year after year. I have an ambition to make stockings for each of my children. Haave done the 2 youngest but have 4 more to go! Now plus 3 DGC!
I agree midnightraven3, I can barely keep up with 2 subscribed threads! It doesn't take much to confuse me. i'm following the one below too. Can someone take the plunge and merge if there are too many of the same thing? I don't know how this works.
Anyway, I'm aiming for a handmade gift for each family member this Christmas. I only managed one this Christmas. A quilt for my DM. As I have a large family, I thought I needed the help of Rudolph Day. I've planned to make some knitted and some quilted/ sewn. Some homemade biscuits, sweets, biscuits and hampers will be added (maybe flavoured vodka for adults!). Am using Jan RD to make a list and decide specifics for each person then, as suggested on that thread. It will include knitted scarves, gloves, hand warmers, shawls and sweaters. Quilts for my DGD's & DGS. Bags for my DD's and kindle covers, notebook covers and photo album covers. Think I'd better find myself a few more days a month for this lot!!
slm6002, have you checked out Ravelry? loads of free patterns and lots of people willing to answer questions and give help!
Will have to post some pics of quilts I'm making.:xmastree:Remember it's Handmade not Homemade

I am too looking to make all of my gifts for Christmas 2012. I left it far to late for 2011 and by the time I started I barely had any time to get my teeth into anything. This year I plan on making for patchwork quilted bed runners, quilts and cushions.
Laura D the stocking you have made is lovely.0 -

Oh I love purlbee there are some great ideas - my problem is turning wonderful ideas into items

I don't suppose anyone knows how I could make my own mulled wine goblets (something like the below from Face Jugs & Pottery Blog - http://straydogpottery.blogspot.com/) would be fabulous. I know I could go on a potters course but I was wondering if there was a cheaper way of making your own (I'm also keeping a look out on local ebay, car boot sales and charity shops) as our best friends expressed how much they loved ours at Christmas for Mulled Wine - so thought I could give them those with the ingredients to make homemade mulled wine mix (http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/other-recipes/jamie-s-mulled-wine) or does anyone know how to make the dry spice mix?0 -
