i will try and answer
1. i was in fact parked in a bay when the parking warden went by and he ignored the car, that is when i went out and asked if i was ok to park there.
2.i mean't that i would not obstruct on purpose a car that was in the drive, and sorry for not making myself clear.
3. i phoned the local police station and asked if it was possible to speak to someone re a parking problem,i was put through and spoke to a very nice gentleman who said yes i was ok to park.
4. my own brother is a policeman and he said it was ok to park there.
5.i can only tell you what i have been told,i have no need to wriggle out of anything i have no need to.
6.my question was only am i right i didn't expect to be called ignorant, rude and not a very nice person a yes or no would of surficed
7.do i wish i had never put the question on,to bloody right lol.0 -
I think the problem is stroppiemare, what you are doing IS wrong, illegal or legal makes no difference,it's morally wrong,if you had a drive you wouldn't allow it,so why should others?
Please in future be curteous and have respect for others, letting them go about their daily routine, without the need to keep knocking your door when they want to get out.
Just a quick question, why have you singled out this house? have they upset you somehow? I don't want to worry you,but by parking over their drive, you will upset them, this could as someone has already said, lead to damage of your car,do you really want that all for the sake of parking somewhere else? why not move?Debt at highest £102k

When I had this problem in my last flat, the police told me that it was only an offence to prevent me joining the Queens highway - not leaving it. I.e, if they stopped me from getting into my drive- tough, but if I wanted to get out, then it was an offence.I was so glad when the street became residents parking and the people using the nearby railway had to find somebody else to block in.0

Sorry, but it bugs the hell out of me when people park across my drive. To me it feels extremely rude and inconsiderate. Suppose it was the other way round, and you've arranged to go out / do the shopping / pick kids up from school / meet mum / go for a job interview / etc ... and you find someone has blatantly blocked you in. You shouldn't have to go running round finding the person and getting them to move.
It's really not about legal rights it's about basic human rights surely? If you lived in a house where the front door opens straight onto the pavement, and I parked my push bike across the door ... I think you'd soon give me a piece of your mind, and rightly so.
I've done my share of inconsiderate things along the way (many people do I think), not seeing the other person's point of view. It's never too late to change

livinginhope in answer to your question i havn't singled out this house the only reason i parked there was they don't drive and in the last 8 year's there has never been a car on it,and i have only parked there twice in the last year.I am not a serial drive parker only if need's must ie parking warden's on the prowl more often than not i park in the street.0

Stroppiemare
Does this have a dropped kerb or just a paved area in front of the property?
Has the council planning department granted permission to cross the pavement?
Our last house had a rear yard with double gates but no "rights of access" so could not be advertised as off street parking.
Kerb was about 1" tall but the council could have bunged a lamppost up any time.
If no right of access exists then it ain't a drive.
Some people are a bit precious of the space in front of their property.
Case in point, at the same previous house.
I lived in a terrace property, and neighbour was a jobbing builder. He had an old caravan parked outside his house and would park in front of mine with his transit tipper if he arrived home before me. No problem I would park opposite my house in front of the pensioners bungalows none of them had cars.
This went on for about the first 5 years we lived there, until he retired and sold the caravan and tipper went back to the building firm.
By this time I was working as a taxi driver, and had my personal car parked outside my house. I would walk to base each morning to pick up a car as it was a few streets away.
One week I was on day shift and the night shift driver delivered a taxi to my home and parked in front of his house while I was out because I would have a 3am airport run in the morning.
Neighbour and his wife pounded on my door because the taxi was outside his house and he didn't want people thinking he was working and claiming on his pension. At the time my wife was heavily pregnant with our first child.
In the end my brother came round and moved the taxi over the road to keep the peace. When I saw him the next morning at about 6am walking to his allotment he got a piece of my mind, both barrels, for distressing my pregnant wife and about his lack of care parking for the last 5 years.
Needless to say we had many a run in with them over the years.
Some people think they have a right to the road outside their property.
I won't condemn you if it's legal then it's legal no moral rights come into it.I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.0 -
You sound a very confused (and/or confusing) person to me SM. You say you are nice yet you treat people unkindly; you say you would not obstruct on purpose yet you say you willstroppiemare wrote:i can only tell you what i have been told,i'm a nice person really and i would not obstruct on purpose,i can only go on what i have been told.If you look at it logically nobody own's the space outside there home and i suppose that what it's all about and clearer definition is needed,i will bow out now gracefully.
. Life should be more than using rules to hide from what we know inside is right. People who habitually ride roughshod over other people's basic rights give me the heebie jeebies, and when they start justifying it ... scary. Favours are returned ... Trust is earned

livinginhope wrote:I think this thread is a bit of a wind up

This has got to be a wind up, I can't believe someone would be so stupid, thoughtless and lazy to park in front of another persons drive rather than find somewhere else. If it happened to me though, they'd end up with four flat tyres everytime they did it :mad:0
