Frustration with groupon

I made a purchase on an offer on groupon in september. I since found out what I ordered had very bad reviews (It was a make up course with an offer of a free Mac makeup goody bag) Also some of the promises it made did not exist.

It said on Groupon it would have a limited number of make up brush kits if needed on the day but only if there was any. I since found out this was not possible at all you had to bring your own kit because of health and safety issues and because of theft. I wasnt prepared to go to alot of extra expense for something that was only going to be for a couple of hours.

Also the offer for the free Mac make up bag had changed. The company said it could not be offered any more but that other make up would be provided.

It said at the bottom of its FAQs that if you were not happy about this you would get a refund from your voucher company.

I contacted Groupon about this and after 2 emails (they never repsonded to the first one) they would give me Groupon Credit as I was outside the 7 days. I said I would accept this and how long this would last for but they never responded to this. I checked my Groupon account and my credit had never been applied.

I have made two emails of complaint to Groupon about this and their lack of customer skills. The first email I sent I expected some sort of acknowledgement of the change to credits and an apology. But what I got was some automated email about was I dissatisfied about there customer service. Again I emailed them telling them I wanted the credits with all the details of voucher codes the email Query number and the person I was emailing them to.

So Im waiting at present if they will send me what I need to know.

I find them very frustrating don't think Ill ever buy from them again.

    Hi :)

We have quite a number of threads on Groupon which may be worth browsing to see how you can progress further with this. See...

  • Purchased voucher from groupon and could not use due to no availability.
Contacted group who promptly replied via email and advised they would issue a credit rather than a refund. I agreed to accept as I planned to use service again. However after now 3 weeks no refund.

Furthermore after more than 10 emails Groupon have now refused to reply to my emails.

I can only assumed this is an policy from Groupon to attempt to withhold refunds.

This is not an isolated case also awaiting refund for the Tshirt offer. AGAIN CONTACTED GROUPON AND WAS ADVISED REFUND STILL WAITING.
Retailer has posted information on there website advising problems.

Now having to contact trading standards to recover almost £100.

DISGUSTING SERVICE AND WOULD QUESTION IF THIS IS A SCAM ? WHY ARE GROUPON ARE CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED.

NO LONGER USE GROUPON. BEWARE - In relation to deals advertised I have no contacted retailers direct, who have agreed to offer similar deal.
Much better and cuts out GROUPON.

I no longer use Groupon as I there are just too many caveats to their offers, you need to be ultraflexible.

Like it or not, Groupon was one of the fastest growing international companies last year, valued at around £1 billion - yes you read right! It can be a fast-track to bancruptcy for some business-owner, though. Whist there are suckers in the world, ther will always be business for Groupon.
