My o2 is very very sllllloooowwww!

I have been with o2 for my broadband for a number of years now, mainly because my friend can give me a staff discount but the speed of the internet is ridiculous.

At the moment, my package for broadband only is £26.50 and after discount, I only pay £11.18. We are on an 'up to 20mb' speed unlimited data download package. I know you don't normally get the advertised speed which I accept but my download speed is only 1.3mb when previously it was between 2-3mb. My upload speed is even more appalling at 0.7mb.

This is not sufficient for mt usage. I've tried calling o2 services but they hang up due to volume of calls, will try again later this evening. But the question is should I change? Phone is with BT, very happy with this and do not want a bundle, even if it works out cheaper.

Anybody experienced this?

2mb download speed sounds bad, might be the best in the area, check the 'samknows' website to find out what the situation locally is.

phoning after about 10pm gets you straight through to secondline support ;) might be a bit of a wait to get through but its an 0800 number at least.

Are you on the O2 Access service (non LLU)? If so it's notoriously, and expensive too.
But if your line can only support 1-2Mbps, (mainly due to distance from the exchange) then there is nothing that o2 or any other ISP can do about that. It's still 'broadband' by the legal definition.

o2 access wont have a maximum speed of 20mb, or a friends and family discount that makes the price that low. it'll be the works, possibly a legacy package dating back to possibly 2009?

So why is the base price as high as £26.50? OP needs to give more info.

As above more information required. Router Line Statistics would be most useful.
