Starbucks card " improvements"

Might cause a few queues if everyone did this but hey no pain no gain! Now that the free drink with a bag of beans or Via 12 pack has gone, will source cheaper coffee elsewhere. US scheme seems much better - Free birthday drink for everyone and free extras at only 5 stars including free drink with beans (free drink every 15 only at 50 stars though but no great loss). Also don't forget and not widely advertised anymore on the menu boards is a free tall filter refill for any filter coffee purchased. Has to be a must now discount has gone.
Over half my visits were to buy the coffee beans so I will be struggling in future to get to 50 stars unless i use the method above and order individually.
What really annoyed me was the email telling about this great new rewards programme when it is clearly worse than the old one.
But you're only allowed to earn 3 stars per day!! I loved getting a filter coffee for a quid

There's nothing in the T&C's, nor the promotional material sent to stores, that says this is true. Starbucks haven't confirmed it's true either, so I doubt this is actually the case.£2 Savers Club 2014 #38 | 20p Savers Club 2014 #37 | 50p Savers Club 2014 #29

I've zeroed the balance on my Starbucks card also. Same reason as earlier:
I can no longer buy a tall filter coffee for £1.00 with my Starbucks card. Under the old terms, I effectively got that free drink after only 3 purchases.
Having been made up to a "Gold" card I am entitled to free shots, syrup, etc- everything I already had with the old card.
More often than not, my spend per visit at Starbucks was between £10.00 and £15.00. So in getting another 50p from me for a filter coffee, Starbucks has deprived itself of a much bigger spend.
Perhaps the bean counters at Starbucks could consider this.
I used to like the idea that I could get a nice mug of coffee from Starbucks for less that it would cost me at Mc Donalds....and then the window licker said to me...0 -
Jeff Bridges Hair, Starbucks do a decent cuppa tooThe only thing you should be paying interest on is a mortgage.
Otherwise Mr Banker - No, I think you'll find interest is something you pay to me....

I finally got an email reply from Starbucks on the 28th. In a nutshell, they said they were trying to offer the best rewards to all customers. As if! Welcome me back to a store soon? Nope.
I'm actually paying more for my coffee elsewhere but it's the principle that counts. And I'm supporting my local independent coffee supplier who has sunk a big chunk of his own cash into the business....and then the window licker said to me...0
