It might sound a silly question but is it a good idea to have a car collected from home for an annual service and returned by the garage and are there any risks and anything to be aware of with this? they don't charge for it. Its the second year service
Thanx

Cant think of a single one, its very very convenient though.

Apart from the fact that you would probably have to take the driver back to the garage when it was all done, they are unlikely to send 2 men out with it.

Good customer service - keeps you going back again and again.

I have had my car for 2.5 years, part of my deal is free washing and hoovering for life, brilliant, I'll certainly go back with a view to buying from their again in the future.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Thanks, they havent said anything about taking the driver back again though, shouldnt they have mentioned this when it was booked? its just over 6 miles to the garage. Will they want paying on collection or delivery? Its a vw car
    Thanx

They won't expect you to drive him back.

The only thing i could see wrong with it is any possible problems the mechanic noticed when driving it back.

could happen, might not happen.... but some places may use it as a way to find a "fault that needs fixing"

Garages dont give free car washes/vacuum/valet/car collection etc etc

Of course they charge for it they dont do it for free.it might not say it on your invoice but collection/delivery of car will be built into the final bill

Yes I thought that too but if it genuinely needs fixing that would be a good thing if its noticed, so long as it is genuine. But hoping at 2 yrs old there wont be anything plus ts still under warranty isnt it.

Only other thing I thought is if there was any kind of accident on the way or any damage or bumps or scratches would they admit it and would they put it right

The driver usually comes in a courtesy car which you have until you get your car back.

I just called them to double check but didnt tell them it is already booked in for tomorrow

I just asked the service lady how much it would be for this car to be serviced,, she asked for reg of car then told me £125 and that it will have oil filter and pollen done, doesnt sound a lot but thats what she said needs doing on a 2nd year polo. I then asked if they charge for collect and return and she said normally £10 so I told her I had been told yesterday that there was no charge for it and it is booked in for tomorrow. She checked the booking and said it does not say a charge so she said there wont be one then.
I don't think £10 is too bad really for having it collected and returned but seeing as they said there was no charge it should stay that way, now I'm just worried in case they will say there are things that need doing that really don't to get extra work

Also I was quoted by another vw garage for the same reg car service £155 (just owner drop off and collect) why would they charge more money for a 2nd year service for the same car, they are the same company. I asked the lady I just spoke to why they charged £125 and they charge £155 and she didn't know why as they should be the same price

    edit
Just rang the garage that quoted £155 and they now say £139 so its all over the place. Anyway hopefully it will go smoothly tomorrow
    Thanx
