Have I made a claim on my car insurance?

I was involved in a non-fault accident in mid 2010 where Admiral (who were my insurers at the time) managed to recover 100% from the other party (the insured, who had driven into the back of my car).
When getting quotes online, I have to declare that I have been involved in an accident etc but i'm not sure whether to tick yes or no to "made a claim against your insurance".
I obviously kept my no claims for that year.
But, I believe Admiral dealt with the "claim" under my policy as they waived the excess pending legal action against the other insurer.

You click yes and there should then be a further option to say the claim was closed non-fault0

Thanks - I've just looked at my existing Aviva policy summary and it says claims in the past 5 years: None.
This is odd, because I declared the claim when I took the policy out (and actually have proof of this in the insurance requirements document).
I am still confused whether I have or have not made a "claim".0 -
You have made a claim (albeit non fault)! (Your Aviva policy document is incorrect).
You are required to disclose all claims/losses, and your claim will be recorded on the database, so don't be tempted to say "no"!0 -
But I did declare that I had made a claim and was involved in an accident. As I said, the insurance requirements document that Aviva uses to generate the policy clearly states this. But the online policy summary now says claims in the last 5 years are none.
I am aware that there exists a database of accidents and claims (featured on watchdog).
I am now wondering if I declared a claim, but Aviva checked and discovered that I hadn't actually claimed?
It was strange, because last year when I sent Aviva proof of no claims I got a really odd letter thanking me for updating my policy online and they enclosed a new insurance certificate (which was exactly the same as the old one, with a new start date).
Is there anyway I can check what is on this database?0 -
I suggest you call Aviva and ask them to clarify.
The last thing you want is to make a claim and get snagged with an accusation of non-disclosureMr Straw described whiplash as "not so much an injury, more a profitable invention of the human imagination—undiagnosable except by third-rate doctors in the pay of the claims management companies or personal injury lawyers"0 -

There is (but there is no point, as you are bound to disclose all claims, and failure to do so allows any insurer the opportunity to void the policy).
You can pay £10 to see what is on the CUE database by sending in this form:

Actually, the document I was referring to is called motor insurance "demands and needs" document for my policy number, and it definitely has the accident on there with the correct claim date.
I'm not renewing with Aviva so i'm just gonna leave it. If anything happens and they try and say I didn't declare it I have official documents which say otherwise.0 -
Hi newfoundglory,
I'm sorry to hear you're not renewing with us, but if you would like me to check and confirm that the claim is on the policy for you, please email me david.hyam@aviva.co.uk with your full name, date of birth, post code and policy number. If you could also include the date of the accident I can then look at what we have on the system and ensure all the details are correct.
Kind regards
