Praise: Whoever handed my handbag in!

I just wanted to get this out really;

Last thursday i went to a different town on a night out and i lost my handbag on the way home, as you can imagine i was devestated i had lost my life! Everything was in there and the last thing i was worried about was the money in it...though everyone else was.

Anyways, i phoned the police/cancelled my phone and cards etc. and was just coming to the realisation it was gone and i wasn't getting it back. But my postie today has delivered a letter saying it was handed in at the local police station and that i am free to collect it :D

Needless to say i would very much like to thank the kind person who took the time to do such a thing but i doubt i will ever know who it was :o

I thought the world was turning into a horrible place and i really thought i would never see it again (the phones in it were worth a fortune) but then it turns round and bites you on the bum to remind you, not everyone is a bad one!

Thank you again whoever my saviour was! :T

THat's lovely! I have lost my purse three times in the last fifteen years (yes I'm that absent minded!) and every time someone has handed it in completely in tact! It really does restore your faith in human nature doesn't it? :D

    Great good-news story!

The reality of it is that there are indeed many more 'good' people out there who would not think twice about handing it in than there are those who see it as an 'opportunity' - it's just a matter of who gets to it first.
Best feeling in the world though isn't, being re-united with a lost bag / wallet / phone after thinking it was 'gone'!

Also highlights the importance of having a contact name/address on your items!

I was really worried, i had lost my phone, passport, keys, purse, everything! And then i had people telling me my identity would be stolen etc. which was really worrying me, but everything is listed on the letter from the police, i will have to collect it tomorrow and i'm going to be so happy :D its strange how attached you get to the smaller things that cannot be replaced.

Why not hand in an envelope with a few quid in it to the police and ask them to pass it on to whoever found it and handed it in. Im sure they would oblige.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

So true, I lost my keys (really is a habit) earlier this year which had a keyring on them my son had given me, I was quite upset even though it was replaceable - it wasn't the point. The keys turned up a few eeks ago - they had been at my parents all along :D

Would they accept it? I'm guessing they would have taken details of the person and i know they couldn't pass them onto me but would they take the time to?
  • I found a handbag left on the back of a trolley in a supermarket car park the week before Christmas. Took it straight into customer service who opened it.

Turns out it was the owner of a local shop and amongst all the usual cards, purse etc it had £000's in cash in it, as it was their Christmas week's takings. Bet they were glad it wasn't someone less honest who found it :)

  • i found a ladies wedding ring and handed it in to the police. a few weeks later i got a thankyou card in the post from her, so the police do give out addresses of the finders.
