Do you mean you paid £3.97 for a book that you didn't take out of the store because the till wanted an extra £1 (i.e. you paid £3.97 for nothing) or do you mean you walked out with the book leaving the till expecting the extra £1.00?0 -
the tesco self service machines often get the wrath of my change tub when i can't find my card/can't be bothered going to the cash point.
i once had a very pleasant conversation with the till supervisor there whilst the machine gulped £36 in 1p, 2p and 5p coins. she said that those on high have said in the past that if people want to pay in large amounts with loose change that they should go to the coinstar machines, but she never advises it because of the cost and turns a blind eye to people paying in large amounts of coinagehelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
I appreciate what you say about it only being £2.00 or so,
I would have been annoyed too - not only because of the till's ability to recognise how much a customer is putting in but by the attitude of the assistant.
Very poor design of the tills, imho.
I would be inclined to write to whoever is in charge at Morrisons and complain about the fact that their self service tills rely on customers to count how much they are putting in and that the tills can't recognise when the amount due is reached.
They clearly got them on the cheap, all the other supermarkets have similar machines to each other and on the whole they seem to work ok.
Only Morrisons seem to have different self service checkouts and I don't think I have ever been in there when at least one till hasn't been out of order.0 -

What do you mean?
I said that customers are twits too. Isn't that what you are saying?0 -
what tosh OP got given - tills should be checked at least EVERY day!
even more so, with smaller coin boxes that I reckon the s/serve ones have?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Tills are cashed up every morning. But notes are sent in the pods throughout the day to the cash office.0 -

Not on all self scan machines, i know of one supermarket chain that only does a full cash up of the self scans once a month, the note/coin dispensers are filled up as required and the note receivers are emptied as needed but the coins aren't touched only on the last day of the month (apart from the coin receiver for 50p's and 10p's which aren't dispensed from the self scan) the coin dispensers also hold way more coins than a regular till, you would actually be amazed how much 'float' there is in a self scan due to change and cashback being a seperate part of the machine to any notes put into the machine to pay for your shopping.0 -
This is terrible.foxymum1977 wrote: »sorry!meant that i had to pay £4.97 for the £3.97 book as once i had put the right money in it still said i owed a pound.
I am apalled at this obviously rubbish equipment.
It's clearly not working as it should do - at least for the customer, but I guess Mr Morrison is happy with all the extra cash for nothing he appears to be getting  .If I thought it would make a difference I would write, but from the attitude of the staff I fear the management can't be much better, they are the ones that employ these miserable twits
Kazipoo
for the sake of a little time and the cost of a stamp, I'd definitely write and complain.0
