It's great that you are starting new DFW spending habits before you move in together. That way you'll be used to working to a budget and it will be a case of merging the OH into it, hopefully!
Everything is ok in the end. If it's not ok, then it's not the end:)

  • How was the belated Christmas Day!!!

You're very fortunate in being so young and getting on the MSE bandwagon. Whilst probably sounding like a decrepit old crone now, I so wish I had caught this bug when I was 25, rather than another 20 years down the line.

Thanks Dragon and HP!! I know my diary isn't the most interesting as I'm barely in debt and within a couple of months I should be all paid off but it's really all about getting at least myself on a solid financial footing.
The OH is next as she graduated last summer and managed to accumulate 3 (yes 3!!) OD's! So she's next up!:)

Paid £200 off the Barclays Credit Card, I know I could pay more but I'm expecting a gas and electric bill for the last quarter (before I started budgeting properly!) some time this month so need some money to cover that, luckily my housemate owes me £104 so hopefully I won't have to contribute too much more towards it! Any money I have at the end of the month will be paid straight off the CC.

Just had a text of the OH saying she's going to spend the rest of the day doing crafty things, so hopefully we'll have more things to eBay by tonight!

Also managed a NSD yesterday, and will have another one today, though does that count since I made the CC payment?!?

Was great thanks, tho spent a touch over my budget, just under £3.00 or so, I was really annoyed with myself, but then had to remind myself that I'll just have to make it up from this weeks budget or eBay sales..

I'm really glad that I decided to catch this 'monster' early, I'd always thought it would be great to be debt free, but always thought I'd do it later, when I finished uni, got a proper job, earnt more, etc.... but this recession really opened my eyes to the fact that I'd never ultimately be able to buy my own house, but more worryingly that in the short term if I lost my job I'd be in serious trouble!!

Good job my eyes were opened, as now I've got my future family to provide for :D !

Well, just done an hours overtime, I'm trying to do at least 5 hrs per week as thats almost an extra £300 after tax at the end of the month!
Might be getting sent down to London next week so lots of O/T, expenses and over night payments which will be helpful!

Another NSD for me!! And another hours overtime done!

Got a nice letter of barclays saying they're raising the interest rate to 25% on my CC, so I've got til the 29th Feb to either pay it off in full or not agree to the new terms and cancel the card and pay it off at the present rate. Don't really want to cancel it as it's going to be my emergency fund until I've actually got an emergency fund!lol

Although I have saved £5 per month by cancelling my iphone insurance with Orange, as I've had tech insurance with my bank account for about 2 years and never used it. I'm actually really annoyed with myself as its been pure laziness on my part, especially as I could register it online, so even managed to avoid call centre rage! So £90 wasted over the last 18 months:mad:, but more importantly is that I'll save £30 over the next 6 til I cancel the contract and go PAYG again!:)

Hoping for another NSD and another hours overtime tonight!

    Will check back in later!
