Help INR now arrived!

Hi,
I bought something at the beginning of December. After about 10 days it hadn't arrived, it wasn't marked as dispatched so i messaged the seller asking if they'd posted it. They said they had and that because it was coming up to Christmas there would be delays.
I waited another 10 days and sent another message this time i got no reply and i opened an INR case. There was no contact what so ever from the seller at any point apart from the 1st reply.
The case was closed, i got my refund and left appropriate feedback, my first ever neg. I then bought the item elsewhere.
My neg wasn't the only one they got they got lots for December and pulled all their listings.
Now imagine my surprise when the item turns up almost a month after i bought it. The item was in a small envelope, nothing to protect it at all but is still in one piece.
I'm not sure what i do now. I think returning it's my best option. But then there's the feedback and the strike. Mind you the lack of communication and poor packaging haven't won him any favours from me.

I'll prob get shot saying this but you could just keep it. If it was not signed for and they've claimed from RM for loss.0

I would pay them if i wanted to keep it but i've already bought another one.0

If I didn't come on here to ask, like you have, I'd probably send the seller a message and ask whether they'd like the item returning due to the circumstances? They might just tell you to keep it.0

I think that's what i'll do i couldn't just keep it i'd feel bad. I don't know what to do about the feedback though can i revise that a bit? It won't be all glowing though due to ignorning me for weeks.0

He's got 3 more negs after mine and 6 positives. He's had 9 negs in total for December and none prior to that. I'm wondering if he just got a bit overwhelmed with the Christmas rush.0

Morally, the item now belongs to Royal Mail as the seller has claimed from them.

Charity Shop?
Only if they have claimed and we don't know if they have.
I would just post it back with return to sender on it.0 -
There's no return address or invoice it just came on it's own in an envelope.0

I would just send the seller an e-mail advising them that you have received the item which you no longer require, and could they send you their address and a payment for the return postage.
It may be that they sent it long after they received the neg feedback in an attempt to get it removed.
Even if they were overwhelmed due to Christmas, this is something that they should have expected and accounted for.
After all, it's not as if Christmas pops up without warning.0
