Emergency - DMP rejected - help!!

Please help!

Have just had my DMP rejected by Payplan!!!

After my outgoings I have £120.00 per month so I thought that a DMP would be accepted.

It has been rejected on the basis of thier minimum outgoings.

My shopping bill (2 adults, 1 toddler, 1 baby) £300 per month.

I was told that it has to be £480!!!! I never spend this much - not even at Christmas!

Also £32 per month for haircuts - are they serious!? I have a friend who is a hairdresser and haven't paid for a haircut for 20 years!!!!

So I guess i'll have to a plan myself - so much more stressful - has anyone got any ideas or advice about what I can do?

Thank you so much (as ever)

I'm doing my own DMP. It was a little daunting at the beginning, but two years on most things are OK. I used the National Debtline website http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk. They have loads of sample letters, from asking creditors to stop interest payments, to asking them to accept a payment plan.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

    Hi,

I am with CCCS and have a shopping budget of £315 (2 adults, under 5 and toddler as well) and £8 for haircuts! I'd try them if you would like the security of having someone to help.

  • have you tried cccs.i was really worried.i put my shopping bill at £200 and they did alot of the calculations for me and i just altered different items on line.have sent all docs back and just waiting for welcome pack.did my own dmp a few years back and i still think the creditors take more notice of the big charity orgs cos they know you have signed the agreement and you are serious and its easier to send one payment to cccs to pay all your creditors instead of taking all the slips to the bank to pay odd amounts to lots of creditors and you dont have to phone all your creditors on 0870 numbers for slips every 6 months.also think they are more inclined to accept the pro rata payments decided by cccs than they would from me and not keep asking for more.cccs also know what to say when you get harassed or have to complete court forms, etc.they are at the other end of the phone for queries.i did get a very good response from nat.debtline but they are very busy and limit the calls to 15 mins which sounds a long time but isnt in reality.please try cccs and see what they say or you can complete the online form and you gat an instant decesion.hopes this helps.regards and good luck.
People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with :)

This might help a bit - we applied for a DMP with both CCCS and Payplan - Payplan said we could pay £88 to our creditors whilst CCCS worked it out at £138b both of which were affordable. Payplans "allowances" were higher.

Payplan have obviously changed their way of working as when we applied, nearly a year ago,we were allowed to set our own amounts,if something was too high they knocked it off and added it somewhere else, our food was set at £220/month for 2 adults and 2 children. They advised us on £12 for haircuts.

  • Perhaps i'll try CCCS then - I just feel so despondent - I was looking forward to today being - 'sort out debt day' but I'm not further forward than I was last week.

It will just be that i'll call them, wait until next week for them to call me then give all my details again - then they still might not help me.

    Whats the point.

We were with Payplan, but ended up with the CAB. They were marvelous - as were Payplan, and as others have said, they jiggled the figures. However, they came up with £64 on haircuts, which creditors queried and so did we!!!!

We liked CAB as the face to face meeting was really comforting.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

It is hard in the beginning, but it will all be worth it to get this sorted out. Just like you signature says "... at least there's a tunnel". A little further through the tunnel and you'll start seeing the light.

Give one of the other companies a call. If I've learnt anything from this process is that even the stress of trying to do the right thing and organise everything is nowhere near the stress of how I felt before my lightbulb moment.

Keep going - you'll find that light soon.
