Item seen cheaper elsewhere - can I get a refund?

Hi everyone,
I bought a new 4-piece suite on 28/12/11 for £4500. I paid £1400 deposit and financed the remaining amount, and it is due to be delivered in 8 weeks. I have since seen the same suite in another retailer for £700 less and wondered if I had any legal right to cancel the order or recoup the difference?
I've contacted the retailer and as I expected they have told me that if I cancel the order I will lose my deposit. By the way I should point out that I bought the suite from a retail outlet and not on-line.
Thanks in advance guys.

If you saw it more expensive elsewhere would you be willing to pay the retailer more?'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

No legal right - but have you asked to speak to the store manager? I have had a similar situation in the past & had a very polite conversation which resulted in a price match. Worth a try.0

not all retailers will price match and those that do will stipulate the other retailer must be within xx miles of their store and written proof of the other price which must not be a sale price0 -

i once worked for a furniture retailer and the deposits were used to place the order with the supplier as very few furniture retailers hold the stock. this was challenged once i know of when a customer cancelled and wanted their deposit back, but the retailer won as their proved that the deposit was used to order the item from their supplier and transport the item to the UK0

Thanks everyone (except Oliver14), I suspected that would be the case but thought I'd check just in case.
I've been told the MD of the company is going to call me later so perhaps they're going to offer me something as a good will gesture, fingers crossed!0 -

The key in this is the finance side of it. Your allowed to cancel the finance agreement upto 14 days after you signed it, you could say your not happy with the terms of the finance agreement and therefore dont want to use finance. Then you could say as you cant get the finance you cant afford the sofa. Not sure on what happpens to your deposit though.
Not really fair on retailer that you didnt shop around first, next time browse then buy not the other way round.0 -
Alsong as the 'financed' is with the retailer or acting on behlaf of the retailer and not privately financed.0
