I'm thinking of getting an iphone and have had good and bad reviews on them from friends and family, but which is the best network to be on?

As a new customer, I'd go for Vodafone because of their Data Traveller scheme. With all the other networks, you'll be stung badly when using your iPhone abroad, but for 25MB/day Vodafone charges £2/day or £10/month within Europe, or £5/day outside Europe. Compare this to £8/MB on Orange and it's a simple decision.

The best network is the one that gives you the best deal and the best signal in the places that you visit. The phone has nothing to do with this. Even if some networks charge extra for a micro sim, you can just cut a normal one and use it in iPhone 4(s)

The is no good and bad. It's whats good or bad for you.

Network coverage, how much you want to pay upfront, how much do you want to pay monthly, where will you use it, do you use more minutes or send more texts or want lots of data?

Your needs are different to everybody else. Start by listing what you want and work from there, Try and check network coverage first where you are, it's no use deciding on say a Vodafone plan then find there is poor coverage at your house.

In theory, that doesn't matter with Vodafone because you can get a Sure Signal box. No idea whether they work well though.

Cheers guys. I suppose my main concern is with signal loss on calls. There's been many a time where I've been cut off on a call to somebody with an iphone but is it just dependent on where you are?

No, that was on the iPhone 4 and it was never rectified. It's not a problem on the iPhone 4S, which has a new problem - rapid battery drain.

try different networks at home and see which is best for you.

I have my 4s on o2 - purely because they looked after me when I had problems on my old HTC phones and sorted it out properly...
