Not sure if this is what Fifer means, but maybe he means this, and didn't explain it very clearly. You use the Humax (or most other dual tuner recorders) to record 2 things. You then use the tuner inside your TV to watch a 3rd programme.0

But you dont want to do that, buy a PVR such as this http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/products/product_stb_terrestrial_hdrfoxt2.aspx record the two channels on that and watch the TVs inbuilt freeview tuner.
I've had a humax for 4 years and for £99 its a good piece of kit
the freesat (dish needed) is also v goodGet Appletv2 & XBMC in and thank me later :beer:0 -

It is indeed correct - and is not quite what fifer's post implies. The 3rd channel can not be any freeview channel.
The only way the 3rd channel could be any freeview channel is it you were watching it via the TV's tuner.
I have only got freeview post analogue switchoff. With my Humax PVR I can record two programmes and watch a third broadcast programme or previously recorded.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Yes - but the third broadcast programme (unless the technology has significantly improved in the last 2/3 years) won't be able to be ANY Freeview channel.
As has also been posted by others, if both the tuners on the PVR are recording you will only be able to watch another channel that is on the same mux(es)[/b] that you are currently recording from. For example, if you are recording BBC 1 and BBC 2, you would would not be able to watch ITV ... UNLESS (a) technology has moved on significantly but I don't believe it has or (b) you are actually watching the 3rd broadcast programme via your TV's tuner.0 -

No worries. It least you're better off in this regard than Sky customers ... recording 2 programmes at once ? then either watch one of them or a previous recorded programme or resort to your TV tuner !!!0
