Bensons Beds & Sealy

Options
Hey guys,

Today I have just purchased a new bed frame from these guys and a sealy mattress to go with it. Both are costing what I consider a fortune in the hope that I will sleep with ease and in comfort for years to come.
However, I have only recently read the reviews for both online and I am quite frankly terrified now I may have made the wrong choice in both respects :(

Does anybody have anything good to say about either? If I choose to cancel it must be tomorrow

please help quickly :T

If you mean about the company in general, I had a great experience with the Cardiff branch. Got a great deal on a bedframe and mattress which was thrown in free (they were discontinuing it I think but it's very comfortable) and it was ready for delivery when they said it would be.

We were having work done on the house and couldn't take delivery of the stuff we ordered, they very kindly kept it in storage for us in a gesture of goodwill and delivered it when we were more ready.

I've had a Sealy bed for about nine years and it has given me no problems. It was used as my main bed for about four years and then became the spare bed. It is still nice and firm with no sagging.

Turning normal mattresses (not memory foam) regularly helps with their longevity.

  • Did you try the bed out first? I would try not too worry too much...we all know that people with negatives tend to be the ones who post on review sites - not all, but mostly. If you tried it and liked it then hopefully it will all be good - but if not you will have redress with the retailer. We ordered a new bed today and I'm pooing my pants that I can't find reviews of it! You never can tell until you have it home.

    hi all,

yeah we tried bed out but only as much as you can in a shop. The mattress is a Sealy Sydney and tbh reading the reviews online they are all terrible and there is not a decent one out there for this type. :(

But, as pointed out, people often tend to post reviews if dissatisfied.

I agree that people do post reviews if they are not satisfied but equally I believe that if people have found a good product or had good service they are also good at posting that too.

I also disagree with Miss_Ratty if you get it home and don't like it there are very few retailers that will refund/exchange merely because you don't like it! If there is a manufacturing defect then you may be in with a chance, otherwise..........

The Sydney range isn't mentioned on Sealy website and if you do a search only Bensons appear to sell it, a problem when trying to compare products and prices. Looking at Bensons website it appears eyewateringly expensive when compared to this:

    http://www.bhs.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/bhsstore/3771006/238037

which has a top of the range Sealy Mattress

    BHS also have 20% off

The Sydney range will have been labelled exclusively for Bensons. If you can match the spec on Sealy's website under another name you might find some comparisons. (3 medium/firm matt, innergetic latex, 1400 pocket springs, pillowtop no turn etc) HTH The pocket spring count is usually for the king size btw :)

  • Recently purchased the Hip Hop Bed Frame with a good quality mattress for my teenage son, was delivered last week, service was good, delivery was as planned, and very happy with the bed.. although when i ordered it it was not in the sale and now i see it is, so that hacked me off a bit..apart from that i have no issues.
