Yellow the new white...?!

Can't help but noticing that there seems to be a fair amount of brand new cars in bright yellow. SLK's, Corsa's, Z4's, new Astra's etc.

Is white sooooo last year already...?!

I was struck by the baby poop yellow Z4 at the local dealers. The sales guy advised it was a demo car and if I was interested in buying it he would wrap it any colour I wanted to shift it.

Very nice but be warned yellow is one of the hardest colours to match if you ever need paintwork done to it.
  • Yeah I spotted a yellow Astra GTC at the Vauxhall dealers in Warrington t'other day.

Well, the white was "blamed" on the Apple-effect, don't know about yellow... I used to (when I drove white cars - variations on the Ford theme :o) feel somewhat reassured by the statistical information that white and yellow cars were - being more visible - less likely to be involved in collisions. But I guess daytime running lights, fog lamps on 24 hours a day and extra low-mounted lights for God knows what purpose make up for the colour of the vehicle (although not the stupidity of the driver....)?
I saw a (possibly brand new?) Range Rover yesterday - in bright lime green. The size of the car made it seem worse somehow than if it had been a little hatchback - but still disgusting nevertheless.

Yes, I drive a boring silver Passat (but I love it - and it doesn't show the dirt).

Perhaps yellow has come about due to the number of people driving around in white cars, with no lights on during heavy snow........

We all know to avoid yellow when there's snow on the ground :p

Silver is acceptable but very popular , five out of 6 of my neighbours have them.

Fashion is wierd... I bought a silver Focus in 2001; quite liked it because it wasn't too common at the time but by the time I traded it in 2008, they were everywhere. My current Focus is blue-grey; a bit dull but again, an uncommon shade. There is a colour called Candy Yellow which I can best describe as pearlescent mucus - and they charge an extra £250 for it!

I actually would like very dark, brown or purple but these are rare colours. Possibly because everybody thinks of 70s beige allegros and purple shag pile carpets :rotfl:
I need to think of something new here...

Yellow only looks good on a Lotus Elise imo. That car was made to be yellow!

I'm a big fan of the chomaflair style silvery blue paint

    I've been Money Tipped!
Different colours suit different vehicles, our neighbours son has a yellow Lexus which looks alright, however our friends have a yellow Ford Focus which doesn't look as nice but that's just my opinion.

I fell into the 'white' trap and both our Range Rover and Mondeo are white!!

I remember a family friend who drove a brown car in the 80's/90's. It looked like a turd on wheels but whatever floats your boat:D:rotfl:

My last car was beige (canvas beige metallic actually :p ) It took a long time before it looked dirty. I sometimes just used to clean the wheels and leave the car. :o I liked my beige car!
