Broadband recommendation!

Ok here is the story, I live with my partner and we rent my dads house. He lives in the attached garage and has talk talk fibre optic. Now I'm connected to it via an access point and although the wireless signal is good there is just to many problems with dropping out and the netgear dg834n I have isn't playing ball.

I've checked samknows and my exchange doesn't provide cable, which is strange, as he has fibre optic????

Available LLU Operators on my exchange are:

AOL
O2/BE
SKY/EASYNET
TalkTalk (CPW)

What is the talktalk CPW?

So my dad has a phone line with them, which is installed in the hall on the right side wall, then the fibre optic is installed on the left side wall with the cable going through the wall into the garage and into his fibre optic modem.

Now I will have to get a new line installed for my own isp, and I'm thinking of going with sky or strangely enough talktalk as well, so I can get fibre optic.

I have a feeling I can't get talktalk fibre optic since its already installed in the house. What options do I have here, also how would my own line be stalled when my dad is using both sockets, one as a phone line and the other for the fibre optic.

I hope this makes sense. What should I do?

Thanks.

    Well you have a few factors going on here but I will have a go. Bear in mind i have one golden rule when it comes to BB and this is avoid talktalk at all costs so;

1, I do not have any experiance with using fibre optic BB, but is it possible to get a different wireless router and see if that gives you a more reliable wireless signal

2, As far as i know Talktalk do not provide cable services so that fact there is a talktalk fibre optic cable does not lead me to believe there is cable tv in the area

3, If I was going to get a new line installed in the house I would get a sky BB service (but I have sky tv so it makes it cheaper etc)

4, I have sky BB and have no problems with it, some people do not like the modem they provide but I find it fine for online gaming etc (and it looks like a little sky box ... how cute)

5, I dont know if you can have a second fibre optic set up in the house. I expect not. Maybe ask them?

6, Can you not hard wire into the existing fibre optic router and run a cable to your bit of the house?

Hope that helps. Sorry if it's useless.

It may be possible to use a couple of homeplugs to provide and ethernet link between the house and garage, assuming that the mains supplies are not separate.
Otherwise just extend the ethernet from the router with a long cable.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
