That is exactly what happened to me! I am 2st heavier than I should be although in fairness much healthier than I was.
I have got a great cookbook here Cooking with Wholefoods and I am keen to try a few of the recipes from it.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Well if you've got the exercise bit done (30mins-1hr, 3 times a week) eat less! It's a very simple fact that if you use more calories than you consume, you will lose weight. Diets are just another thing to fail at and get stressed about.
Good luck & keep it simple.0 -
I do know the theory I just want some inspiration for dishes etc so that I have less excuse for failure

Exercise & eating less may well be factual in aiding weight loss if the individual has nothing else that factors in.
Same as sleep problems (for instance)...drinking warm milk & having a warm bath before bed will help someone who struggles with sleep. However, if there is more going on, ie: serious mental health problems, the indivdual will find that just drinking warm milk/having warm bath isn't going to fix the sleep problems.0 -
I'd second the grains and pulses suggestion- lots of "meaty" dishes can be made with pulses and grains as a subsitute- what sorts of food do you like?
when we do veggie days I tend to cook curries with pulses- kidney beans/chickpeas/butter beans all make delicious curries. DH who left to his own devices would eat steak every day ( I kid you not- he went to work in the states for 2 months a few years back and ate steak EVERY DAY!) loves these and doesn't miss his meat.
Another receipe I do is a butternut squash stew- again with plenty of pulses, hot chillis, paprika, garlic and lime juice, it's filling and yummy we have pita bread instead of toast with it and I think it's a fairly healthy meal.
this time of year soups and stews go down well in our house if you have a slow cooker it is easy to bung in some pulses and spices and get something tasty to come home to- I would just look at different recipes that you've enjoyed in the past- mexican food, chinese, morrocan and have a play around with what pulses/veg could be added/changed.
Hope that helps!

Hi Rummer :hello:
There's no easy way really.
It all comes down to eating less & particularly less of the things you say you like.
Sauces (something one tends to eat more of when eating veggie) are often the baddies.
Ration the sweeties. Give up sugar if you take it. Cut back on wine.
In fact, just reducing the size of your portion slightly - no need to go as far as a pea on a plate, though :rotfl: - often has a positive effect.
I don't believe in giving up all life's pleasures so I think the term is "everything in moderation". It's just some things need moderating more than others

I'm not a real veggie as I eat fish, but predominantly eat veggie during the week. I rarely eat sweet foods and never have biscuits or cake in the house. However, as I love cooking I do find it's easy to overdo the yummy things I love, like cheese or cream in sauces. (So easy to add cheese to a dish, then add extra grated cheese on top.....!) I try to have more vegan meals than just veggie, as cutting down on fatty dairy has helped me lose a bit without feeling at all deprived. Homemade soups are my favourite freezer lunch standby - filling and wholesome. For instance, lightly curried parsnip soup tastes naturally rich and creamy with no dairy at all, same as my other winter favourite, spicy lentil and tomato. I also find that adding spices (not necesarily chilli, though I adore it) to a savoury meal is much more satisfying than a blander meal.0

I'm veggie, but I think I am addicted to cheese! Its certainly my major downfall, and the thing I crave most, but its so fattening. I really wish I could stop it but have no idea how. Need a cheese addicts annonymous or something!0
