Hello
I have grown rather plump and need to lose the weight I have put on in a sensible way and I wondered if anyone could recommend a tasty yet effective vegetarian slimming plan?

Weight Watchers is effective in general (I lost 9 or 10 lb in two months last year).
I don't understand, though, how if you're a 'proper' vegetarian (as opposed to a pizza and chips vegetarian) you could have got to be overweight in the first place...unless you've been overdoing it on the cheese and chocolate?0 -
What can I say I adore all food that is bad for me :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I'm veggie and trying to lose weight - I'm just eating healthier though. Had got a bit lazy and was having more 'ready meal' type things, snacking too much and probably too big portions. So am working on those and adding more exercise.0

I'm vegan and going back to Slimming World this week as I find their Green days plan very good. With me it's my love of chocolate, crisps, bread, soya cheese and snacks that see me putting weight on.
I find making more meals like filling stews/soups helps - lots of pulses and beans in are filling and healthy. I need to make sure I eat regular healthy filling meals and eat less junk food and alcohol.
I also need to get back into exercise as that along with healthy eating really help with the weight loss. Oh and I also look for a 1-2lb max weight loss a week and keep a food diary.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

why do people assume veggies are always stringy and pasty and skinny? Even without lots of cheese and chocolate, protein / meat replacements, nuts, can be quite high in fat. Quorn is fairly low fat but depends what its put with.
WEight is often more than what you eat / exercise you do, and no I am not blaming glands or thyroids!0 -
I never used any of those words.why do people assume veggies are always stringy and pasty and skinny?
And I said what I said because I used to be veggie and had never been slimmer (NOT skinny!! I have never been that
), more energy-filled and with a lower food bill than at that time.
I'm the same so fear not :rotfl::DWhat can I say I adore all food that is bad for me :rotfl:0 -

Very harsh & mis-informed post.
I have been a veggie for well over 20 years & have gotten over weight due to certain medications I've been on over the past few years.
There are different reasons for people to put on weight & it isn't always down to diet.0 -
Sweeties and cheese are my downfall, they are wonderful, although not good for my waistline

Vegetarianism is a relatively new thing for me, we have been cutting down meat gradually and now I have cut it out of my diet completely so I am exploring new and interesting dishes. I have found a book from the library called "Cooking with Wholefoods" by Nicola Graimes and the recipes in it all sound easy and delicious so I am looking forward to trying them.
Also keen to try raw foods if anyone knows a good recipe book for that

Much appreciated.
I always used to be fairly slim until a few years ago when I was put on medications which are well known to cause weight gain & also when I was having problems with my gall bladder, which, in the end, had to be removed. I have since really struggled with my weight & even with diet & exercise find it extremely difficult to get the weight off.
If you saw what I ate each day & knew my weight, I rekon you would be pretty shocked at how heavy I am. Although I'm not particularly dangerously overweight, I'm much heavier than I ever used to be.0
