Can anyone beat this netbook deal?

Hi all, seen this netbook which looks good for the price however thought I would put it on here to see if anyone can beat price or spec etc.

Still not 100% certain if I want a netbook or new laptop however for what I use a laptop for the netbook seems a cost effective option.

All I do is surf and occasionally type a letter etc.

Anyway, deal is here > http://www.eshopbrokers.co.uk/products/Computers/Netbooks/Asus/ASUS-Eee-PC-1018P-Atom-N550-1-66-GHz-10-1-TFT?prodid=707803&info=2

Let me know your thoughts, thanks all.

If you go for the netbook, I hope you have good eyesight and small fingers.
  • Laptop anyday, got both, laptop and netbook also got a tablet, laptop the best in my humble opinion. That netbook might run a bit slow, I know ours does while not the exact same spec. it runs the same processor. If your just having one get a laptop.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I agree having thought and done more research and think a new laptop would be best. My current one is 4 years old with a Celeron M inside it.

tommie1shunt, the link you gave for the laptop. How is that better or equal to the link I gave of the laptop? Just wondering?? Cheaper which is nice!

I reckon your existing laptop is better than a Netbook.

It does do what I need just! It is slow and struggles with more than one office app or multiple web pages up. It also only has a CD player however I would like a DVD rewriter is I were to get a laptop. Hence why I was uncertain about getting the netbook however your views and me reflecting on what my needs are have helped. Hence I now want a laptop sub £350. Not sure if to start a new thread for my search or if people will suggest deals from this thread. First I will have a search though!

DVD readers and writers were commonplace 4 years ago, are you sure it doesn't have a dvd drive?

There is a sticky thread above on how to speed a machine up

I am certain of my laptops specs. It may be as old as 5 years but no older than that. Has XP and does the job however would like to treat myself to something more capable. I had thought even a netbook would have been more capable but clearly not based upon some of these comments.

As a compromise it might be worth considering the class of device that sits between laptop and netbook - such as the HP DM1 series.

Slightly bigger than a netbook (just under 12" screen) and much lighter than a laptop.

The HP's have very good screens compared to the average 10" screen netbook...
