what with dog and grandchildren i desperatley need to clean carpets.
any opinions/advice on the best or worst to buy
is it worth paying the extra for a heated one. i am hoping to pick one up in the sales but there are so many to choose from.
only experience i have is a vax wet and dry from years ago.

Hire a rug doctor they are the best cleaners out and it will make your carpet look brand new again0

thanks, have thought about hiring but they need cleaning regular really so think it will be better value for me to buy 1.0

We have a Bissell pro heat plus, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bissell-9500e-Proheat-Carpet-Cleaner/dp/B002TVIEOC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325512644&sr=8-1
Had it about 18 months, its not cheap but well worth it..We bought ours from idealworldtv ..........Plenty of reviews on Amazon0 -
thanks leveller,do you find it heavy to use? used to use my old wet and dry vax a lot and found it heavy going!0

Not too bad, I would say its a bit more work than say a Dyson vacuum cleaner and its a bit of a job to clean it all out after you use it but we have found it to be a good machine and cleans thoroughly and the heater does help the drying time..0 -
numatic george, we are on our second in 25 years, the cr*p it extracts from the carpet is staggering. used the cleanstore as they did a package without the vacuum equipment0

Another vote for the Bissell, just feel much better in terms of build quality and in 3 or 4 years can fault the standard of the cleaning! Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

Sorry to say I would NOT recommend the bissell one. I had two and after a few uses they fail to spray water. If you read on the net, there are lots of people who have the same issue. I now have a Vax upright washer, it has 6 year g'tee and was recommended by either Which or Good Housekeeping? I did have a fault with it, I called them, they collected it and sent me a brand new one back as they couldn't fix it within 7 days.0

greenwellies, can i ask which model bissel you had and which vax you have now?0

I went for a Polti steam/vacuum cleaner combination (their Lecoaspira range) it's rather good. Carpet can be walked on straightaway tooNow free from the incompetence of vodafail0
